This is the one and only Original Alpaca Picnic Experience.
While shooting for Quechua Benefit, a nonprofit supporting economic benefits for underserved communities in the Peruvian highlands, professional travel, nature & humanitarian photographer Wasim Muklashy met Amanda Vandenbosch, one of the world's premiere alpaca breeders & Peru-trained alpaca judges. That encounter blossomed into a friendship which led to his living & working at Flying Dutchman Alpacas, Amanda's family farm in Bend, OR during part of the pandemic year. Taking their morning coffee & lunch in the alpaca pasture was pure therapy & they both realized that if these floofs were therapeutic to them, they'd be therapeutic to ALL. So here they are, offering an experience with a group of floofs guaranteed to put smiles on the faces of those in the foulest of moods.
There is no other activity that will give you this level of time, experience, education and interaction with the magical creatures that are the alpaca.

It's a picnic, but with alpacas! Yup, you heard right, an Alpaca Picnic. We'll set you up at your own picnic table (and picnic blanket!) in one of our pastures with a picnic basket filled with food and drink and all the fixins. You'll get to sit, drink, eat & be merry while surrounded by a pack of friendly alpacas. We'll even leave you with some alpaca food. Some will come up as curious about you as you are about them. Some won't even acknowledge your existence. But the one thing that is guaranteed is that ALL of them will put smiles on your face that you may never be able to wipe. I mean, c'mon...an alpaca picnic! You know you want to... Please be aware when you book the price is 150 per adult, 50 per child, so make sure to pick how many people will be coming so that we prepare enough food for everyone. The best experience in Bend for couples, families, groups, & team-building! Also just to note, while they're adorable year round, if you're looking to picnic during maximum floof, consider booking before they are sheared in mid-May, at which point they'll look goofy aliens for a few months. We can accommodate for most food sensitivities (also vegan, vegetarian, keto).

This was one of the funnest parts of our trip. We giggled and had a great time feeding the alpacas and seeing the babies. Such an inquisitive beautiful animal! Guide was amazing and we learned so much! Lunch was amazing! I would definitely do this again!!! Thank you!

Please go support this wonderful farm! We had a lovely experience of many alpacas surrounding us --letting us pet and feed them. It was such a sweet experience. It was the highlight of our trip!

This was one of me and my family's favorite activities we did during our recent trip to central Oregon! From start to finish it was a wonderful experience! Louisa met us at a cute little cafe - they offered us all free drinks and then we followed Louisa in our car for a short drive to the ranch. We were greeted by the owner Amanda and her adorable little dog Mack. Amanda was very engaging and talked with us about her experiences as an equine and alpaca judge and talked about the alpacas and what we can expect with the llama and alpacas we would be meeting during our visit. We were then greeted by several alpacas led by this beautiful Llama named Dream Bella. She was so regal and sweet and stayed with us the whole time we were there. Amanda said she doesn't normally do that with guests so we felt pretty special. :) We were taken out to the field to a beautifully adorned picnic table and were given grain to feed the many different colored alpacas that were suddenly around us. It was so fun to feed them and to get to know them all! Then they brought out a wonderful charcuterie board and our delicious lunches, and even had a gluten free lunch for me! While we ate the alpacas hung around us and we enjoyed seeing them and then spent more time with them and also Amanda and Louisa after we finished our lunches. The ranch was very beautiful with the mountains in the distance. On our way back to our resort we stopped in Sisters to the Alpaca's by Design store to purchase items made with the fleece from these alpacas. It was such a wonderful day! I am sorry I don't live closer because I would definitely visit more often! I highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for a fun filled and unique family day!

When I was in Oregon with my parents, I booked a visit for us. I, in my excitement, got the date wrong, and had booked for June (we were in the area in May). After talking with Amanda, she was so gracious to let us still visit, gave us a tour, let us feed the alpacas, and sit in the pasture. If you are in the area, please go! We all had a great time and are so thankful for Amanda for giving us her time and the experience. I could not have asked for a better afternoon!
