Alton
During this two and a half hour tour I will take you to discover the places that marked the life and inspired the works of Jane Austen and accompany you along the path that she herself used to take when an DA goes from Chawton, the village where she lived with her mother and sister, to the nearby town of Alton to shop or visit friends or family. The tour departs from Alton train station and follows the "Jane Austen Trail" to Chawton. Alton is a beautiful town in Hampshire surrounded by 360-degree DATA from the beautiful countryside of southern England which is about 70 kilometres from London and half an hour from Winchester. In its old town there are many buildings associated with the life of Jane Austen that are mentioned in her letters. In this first part of the tour, I will take you to discover Alton and the places related to the author of Pride and Prejudice, as well as providing some information related to the history and present of this beautiful town.
Chawton
After visiting Alton, the tour continues to the nearby village of Chwaton (about 1.2 miles from the center of Alton) along the "Jane Austen Trail", the route she herself used to travel when going from place to place. The route is flat and passes entirely on sidewalks so it is suitable for everyone. Chawton is a delightful village in the South Downs National Park, with thatched fairytale cottages, beautiful parkland and a romantic stone church. But Chawton is above all the place where Jane Austen lived happily the last eight years of her life and wrote most of her novels. 2025 is the right year to visit Chawton because it is the 250th anniversary of the birth of Jane Austen. In this part of the tour I will take you to discover the village that Jane Austen knew and loved and offer you a taste of how to live in an English village starting from my daily experience as a resident of Chawton.
Guided walk along the Jane Austen Trail between Alton and Chawton (about 2.5 km).

Walking through the English countryside in the footsteps of Jane Austen was a wonderful experience. With Laura’s guidance we tasted every corner and she fascinated us with her stories about the writer and the era in which she lived. A real journey into the past! Laura is a very prepared, cultured and nice person. Thank you Laura!

Laura was a pleasant, clear and very interesting guide. Before booking I received all the necessary information and after she took care, among other things, to inform me of the London Underground strike. When we arrived in Alton he was already at the station waiting for us and guided us through the world of Jane Austen in a competent and meticulous way. With the same passion and enthusiasm he introduced us to an English village, its cottages and gardens. Even the rain at the end of the tour contributed to the atmosphere giving a very British touch! After saying goodbye we visited the house where Jane Austen lived her last years, so I recommend booking, finding places and people met in her story. Finally Laura also kindly sent me some photos and an article she had told us about. I just have to thank her and invite you to participate in her tours!

I discovered Laura by chance on YouTube while researching Southern England. Her very detailed and in-depth videos and blog entries helped me a lot to better understand the English love for the countryside and to make decisions about my tour. Turns out he also organized tours to Chawton and Alton, the villages where Jane Austen lived. My husband and I were thrilled with the tour, which we highly recommend. Laura is outstanding! She was extremely knowledgeable, a tireless speaker and a super-passionate person. She was able to give us not only detailed information about Jane Austen and the places where she lived, with links to her novels and characters, but also insights into the historical context, current events and life in England. I found the tour very well organized and studied, with great willingness to share his personal experience. Highly recommended to those who love Jane Austen, to those who want to learn more about the history of these fascinating places or simply meet a person who tells with passion and enthusiasm the atmosphere and local life in a small country village.

A fabulous hike! We met Laura who immediately made us feel welcome. During the tour she illustrated many places that have characterized the life of Jane Austen, also telling us anecdotes that made us discover an ironic side of the writer. Laura not only clearly explained the various stages, but was also available to answer our questions from curiosity about her experience of life in England. Arriving in Chawton we immersed ourselves in a fairy tale, not only for the characteristic cottages she showed us, but also for the kind inhabitants who know her and welcomed us, the intense scent of roses and finally the small community events that catapulted us into a completely new reality. Now we understand what Passion for the English Countryside means and it is impossible not to fall in love with it! Note of merit also to her husband, very kind, whom we met by chance while bringing home flowers 🌷 For lovers of Jane Austen or the countryside, do not miss this tour! The walk is not tiring and is good for everyone. Not only will you discover interesting places, but you will have the pleasure of enjoying great company with Laura. Highly recommended!!!!

I met Laura for her beautiful videos dedicated to the English countryside and immediately entered my heart, both for her way of telling the places I love, and for her spontaneity. Laura is a really wonderful person and the Tour was a beautiful experience. An immersion in the enchanted places of Alton and Chawton, in the footsteps of Jane Austen, to discover the little curiosities about her life and the enchanted corners of the English countryside. The cappuccino at Tea Room Cassandra's, then, a treat! I highly recommend this tour both for the wonder of the places and for Laura's special guide. I can't wait to come back!
