We visited Ho Chi Minh City from our cruise port on a private tour and it was a fantastic introduction to Vietnam. Our guide, May, was absolutely lovely – warm, knowledgeable and very enthusiastic about sharing her country with us. Our driver was also excellent, navigating the famously busy streets with ease. During the tour we visited the Tourist Village, the War Remnants Museum, the old post office and Notre Dame Cathedral. Each stop gave a different perspective on the city and its history, and the War Remnants Museum in particular was very powerful and thought-provoking. We also had a lovely and tasty traditional meal in a local restaurant. Ho Chi Minh City itself is fascinating – energetic, colourful and incredibly lively. The sheer number of motorbikes on the roads is something you have to see to believe! Despite the traffic, everything seemed to move in an organised chaos that was amazing to watch. Overall it was a really enjoyable and insightful day and Vietnam left a strong impression on us.

Our guide JP was a good and considerate guide. He treated us like family and gave us the flexibility to adjust our itinerary based on our taste and time constraint. Such is the advantage of being on an independent tour instead of being on the cruise ship’s excursion. Our lunch was included at a local restaurant which included fried spring rolls. When I mentioned that I avoid fried food, JP managed to have the restaurant substitute fresh mango salad instead. Delicious. Our driver took us back to the port on time and even bought us to fresh coconut from a roadside vendor on d way to the port. It was a treat. Thanks to JP and our driver.

Had an amazing time exploring Saigon with our charismatic guide Binh and driver Minh. The drive felt like mister toads wild ride but we felt safe the whole time. Something about Saigon traffic patterns that confounds me! The private tour was for just the two of us so we liked not being rushed by anyone and getting an accurate historical portrait of what we were looking at. The war museum felt like partial propaganda the commies would throw at their people for the atrocities they commit, but it was easy to see through that. More than anything the architecture of the city was the most compelling part. We recommend this tour to anyone passing through on a cruise or otherwise!

Our private short excursion from Port Phu My to Ho Chi Minh City (aka Saigon), gave us an excellent introduction to this dynamic city, teaming with life. Our guide, Titus, prepared an excellent customized tour based on our input. We got a sense of a Mekong Delta village/farming environment, and then different sections of the city, focusing on our priorities for understanding the cultural background, some of the main areas and sites in the city, together with visiting an important Buddhist temple and discussing Buddhism in Vietnam, and how it affected outlooks on nature and life. Titus’ knowledge and experience with Buddhist philosophy and practices made this an exceptionally valuable discussion. The car was clean and the driver was very simpatico. Titus and this tour are highly recommended.

You see a little bit of everything. A very interesting tour and a piece of history. Of all my southeast Asian countries this was by far my favorite. May our tour guide made this trip so memorable and helped us to enjoy every moment. The driver was very safe, the food was delicious, and May gears the tour toward your interests. The Vietnamese people are very kind and gentle you will not be disappointed with this tour. Ps the shopping is off the hook.

We had the best time touring Ho Chi Minh City with our tour guide May (Nhung)! May communicated with us the day before to confirm timing and contact details. She sent a photo of herself so we knew who we were looking for but also had a sign in hand with my name on it when she met us at the port gate. It’s a long drive into the city but May spent that time telling us all about the sights we were seeing and sharing insights into Vietnamese culture. She was extremely knowledgeable and her English was excellent. At each tour stop she provided interesting and relevant historical information, including photos, which really helped. Our group consisted of foodies so we asked May if we could skip the included buffet lunch and find a GREAT restaurant that had wine (this is hard to find in most places) and she delivered in a big way!! We had the most amazing lunch at Man Moi, a Michelin Guide restaurant, conveniently located right next door to our next tour stop the Vietnam War Museum. We thoroughly enjoyed our day and highly recommend this tour. Hopefully you are lucky enough to get May as your guide!

Mia is a friendly, engaging tour guide. We really enjoyed our private tour with her. The pretty park we stopped at first for coffee was so relaxing after the long drive from the port. Then Mia gave us a wonderful tour of the top sights in the city. The included lunch was delicious, with many local dishes. Try the egg coffee, yummy! Mia also took nice pictures of the 4 of us and sent them right after the tour. On the way back to the ship when we stopped for a restroom, she bought us some milk pancakes to try. Mia and her driver are terrific!
