Your journey begins with an easy pick-up in Le Havre, where an experienced guide will meet you at the cruise port or your hotel. Le Havre is located on the Normandy coast and played an important role during World War II. It served as a key logistical center for the Allied forces during the planning and execution of the D-Day invasion. As you leave Le Havre, your guide will briefly explain the region’s historical importance and the bravery of the Allied soldiers who fought to free Europe from Nazi occupation. The drive to the first stop prepares you for the powerful history you will experience at the D-Day landing sites.
At the German Cemetery, you will learn about a different perspective on the events of D-Day. Located in a quiet and peaceful setting, this site offers a moment for reflection and remembrance. Set against tranquil surroundings, this solemn site commemorates the sacrifices made by all parties involved in the conflict. Rows of simple, carefully arranged gravestones highlight the scale of the loss and serve as a strong reminder of the human cost of war. An excellent experience on the events surrounding D Day. Our guide (Sam) was very knowledgeable and provided an excellent summary from WWI to the end of WWII and why Normandy was so important in bringing peace to the region

We enjoyed the stories Maja shared along the way-particularly meaningful were the recordings of historic speeches. She seemed personally captivated by the history and her enthusiasm was contagious. Lunch was delicious- we had a vegetarian sandwich on fresh baguette.

The Normandy excursion delivered everything we had hoped for and more. Our guide, Maja, prepared an extensive narrative without sounding scripted, and she ably responded to many questions from our busload of American tourists. She ably led the sizable group over several stops, leaving no one to feel left behind or overly rushed.
