We've traveled for many years and through all continents, but this day's tour was exceptional. First, the weather was our friend; we had the perfect late spring day. But, most stunning was the beautiful cheese farm nestled high above the Aravis Valley. The view from the farm was magical! The farm production was fascinating, and the lovely owners showed us all the steps by first meeting the cows in the field! They make three types of cheese, all traditional to the region. The final product was a tasting paired with lovely wine and great delightful company. Next, we were off to Chamonix for lunch and a tour. Lunch at Restaurant le Monchu featured Savoyard cuisine - fondue, brassiere, and fabulous soups and salads. It was very yummy! Our guide, Bernadette, was informative and great company. She was determined for us to see the top of Mt. Blanc and kept looking until it cleared, letting us snap the perfect photo. The town of Chamonix is quaint, like any mountain village, but the history makes it much more enjoyable. Lastly, our guide, Lionel, so graciously took us to all these magical places and was a joy to spend the day with. We like him so much; we hired him the next day to take us to the Gorge de Fier, which we highly recommend. Take advantage of this tour! Experience 1786.Travel was great to work with, and the communication was quick and thorough.
