This adventure stands out because it offers something you won’t find in typical tourist activities: real authenticity. You’re not visiting a commercial attraction — you’re stepping into the everyday life of a small local family and their reindeer farm, where there are no crowds, no staged shows, and no rush.
You get exclusive access to a private farm with hundreds of reindeer, yet only your small group is present. This creates a calm, personal, and intimate atmosphere where you can truly connect with the animals, ask questions, and learn deeply about the culture of Lapland. Also the cabin by private lake is super cozy and uniq. Walking on the private frozen lake to the snowy forest makes you think you are in the movie <3 All by your self with small group with you. We only take 8 in one group.

If you’re looking for a genuine and authentic experience away from mass tourism, this is perfect for you! A member of our small family business will pick you up from your holiday accommodation, and from there we’ll drive to our reindeer farm and cabin on the shore of a private wilderness lake, just 35 minutes from Levi. Once there, you’ll get to explore a real, authentic reindeer farm with hundreds of reindeer and no other visitors—just our small group of up to 8 people and the reindeer. You’ll be able to touch the reindeer, feed them lichen, and take a reindeer for a walk. You will learn all about the reindeer’s year and life in Lapland. After this, we’ll head next door to our cabin, where we’ll continue with a snowshoe walk across the frozen lake into the snowy forest. We’ll tell you all about life in Lapland during all eight seasons. Afterwards, we’ll relax in the cozy cabin and enjoy roasting sausages, along with homemade pastries and a hot drink. You’ll be back at your accommodation four hours after pickup, filled with memories and carrying beautiful photos from your adventure. We’ll be your new local friends from that moment on. <3 Read the reviews and make your choice <3

In the week before Christmas 2025 a great well-groomed day experienced with my family in Lompolo, organized by Heli. What a cozy, enthusiastic fun woman is Heli, she had so much to tell us about authentic life in Finnish Lapland. Visited her family’s reindeer farm, where we were allowed to feed the reindeer, pet them and there was plenty of time to take pictures. Then in the cottage spoiled with various delicacies. Once warmed up, we went outside to take a snowshoe walk across the frozen lake to and through the woods. This day was so pure, really a gift!

This is an experience me and my husband will never forget. It was so personal and unique when compared to major tourist tours. We met some reindeer on a working reindeer farm and got to feed them. Then we went to the hosts own property where we did snow shoeing across a frozen lake. We then cooked sausages and had home made cake. We were made to feel like part of the family and had a bonus snowmobile experience before being taken back to our hotel. The guide was so knowledgeable and lived in the area all her life so was able to share her experience, culture and knowledge. Overall a fantastic trip and one we definitely recommend.

The only reason I’m giving Heli and Soma Adventures 5 stars is because I can’t give them 10 stars! Our time with Heli was the highlight of an amazing trip to Lapland’s. As a family, we live more authentic experiences and this fit that perfectly! Driving with Heli out to her property was great, as she told us all about growing up and living around Levi. Then she took us to her neighbor’s reindeer farm where we walked freely amongst, fed and walked hundreds of reindeer. She told us all about what life was like for a reindeer farmer and answered all of our questions. She then took us to her cabin by the most gorgeous lake I’ve ever seen. Looking right was sunrise and left was sunset. I’ve never seen anything like it! We snoeshowed across the lake and into the forest where we played and took a billion pictures while she went back to the cabin to prepare a fire and a snack for us (sausages, marshmallows, delicious homemade apple pie, hot chocolate and hot berry drinks). We warmed by the fire talking about our experience before she drove us back. She invited us to drive back to the lake at night to see the northern lights if we wanted, and we did, seeing the most spectacular show! If I had to say something negative, it would be that none of our other experiences could live up to our wonderful time with Heli! Reach out to Soma Adventures and Heli to book an amazing experience!

It’s such a unique excursion. Truly local, and lovely to do. The farm is a cute experience with feeding the reindeer. The snowshoe walking is not for people with no condition. It is really very hard. But afterwards you’re greeted in their home for a nice hotdrink. So conclusion: book this if you want to avoid mass tourism and experience the real Lapland.

One of our favorite days in Lapland! We enjoyed meeting Heli, who is so kind and wants you to really enjoy every part of the experience. We went snowshoeing, sat by the fire, went to a remote reindeer farm supporting the local family of this region, and had a wonderful afternoon enjoying warm drinks and treats. It was a great experience to enjoy the beauty and calm serenity of Lapland. I really appreciated how it’s not commercialized and it is in the small region of Lompolo. Meeting the reindeer and getting to feed them was such a fun time for me. My husband and I enjoyed our time so much! Thank you for being a wonderful host and letting us experience true Lapland winter. I can’t wait to go back one day.

An awesome experience. Our guide, Pikka, was fantastic. She expleined to us everything about reindeer farms. Then She guided trough an icy lake snowshoeing and after that we restored in a typical Lappish refuge.

I liked it very much to visit the reindeer farm, especially I did love the personal and authentic atmosphere of this excursion in a small group. Also the scenery on the drive through the winter forest was amazing. And the Mökki was very cosy to warm up.

We could not possibly have had a more incredible time with Heli. She is one of the people in the world who has truly found what they are meant to be doing: serving as a capable educator, the consummate hostess, and a fantastic ambassador for Lapland and Finland. We were able to pepper her with questions and receive thoughtful answers to each one. We had a much more up-close, intimate, educational experience with her reindeer than we could have imagined. Our time spent snowshoeing in the wilderness was serene, beautiful, and spectacular. An overarching theme that we appreciated: Heli offered the perfect mix of hands-on engagement and hands-off “go do your thing” encouragement. We were free to interact with her reindeer as we saw fit, rather than lining up for staged photo ops. We were set free to snowshoe around her beautiful neck of the woods and explore to our hearts content, rather than trekking single file behind her. But at the same time, she opened her home so graciously to us; taught us so much about her life, her region, and her country; and made us feel so welcome – not like an annoyance (which some tour guides in Lapland do!). Heli has found her calling. I can’t recommend a day with her and her reindeer highly enough.
