We were fortunate to have Matt give us a personal tour as we were the only ones on the day and time of this tour. His knowledge was unending. Not only did he know about the site, its origins, significance of sections, monuments and markers, he also told us about personal insights from his years of experiences with relatives of Arlington internees. We were delighted to have found and taken Matt’s tour due to his tenure as both a guide, photographer and historian. Tour took about three hours, and covered about 4 miles walking through the site which is hilly, but not overly steep. Would recommend to all.

So much history in a beautiful yet solemn location. MATT was our guide - he was extremely knowledgeable about Arlington’s history, layout and where all of the prominent hero’s were laid to rest. The changing of the guard at the Tomb of the unknown soldier was a highlight as was the tour of Arlington House. A 3 hour walk that seem to take no time at all. Highly recommend - and ask for MATT.

We loved our tour with Matt! He was very knowledgeable and taught us a lot about Arlington. We had the best view of the changing of the guard and wreath laying ceremonies thanks to him.

Had an awesome time! Very informative as I learned so much from our guide. Perfect timing at the tomb, as we got to see a ceremony and changing of the guard. Definitely doing it again!

I had never been to the Arlington War Cemetery on any of my previous visits to DC however, it was on my bucket list of things to do. Matt was an incredibly knowledgeable and sensitive guide for my tour. As I’d booked a private tour, no question was enough for him and he answered every single one; I even asked him if there were any graves with my surname on…although he could never be expected to know that, he took the trouble and showed me from the records that there were indeed 347 and also the location in the Cemetery where each one is located. I have vowed to return in the not too distant future and will be asking Matt to include a stop at one of those graves. I think I probably exceeded my allocated time but it didn’t bother him and he was the perfect host. As a former veteran from the RAF the changing of the guard ceremony was incredibly moving and I was impressed by Matt’s respect as he removed his hat for the playing of Taps. (You either get that or you don’t and he did). All in all, given the solemnity of the location, it was a truly wonderful experience and Matt made it come alive. I will be returning and I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Matt as a guide. Thanks Matt, you were outstanding.
