We had never been underwater in a real submarine before and decided to try this. We are not scuba divers but had been on several snorkeling adventures viewing beautiful corals and colorful fish. This trip offers the opportunity to see the coral and the fish ( plus a few shipwrecks) without getting wet or being fearful of swimming in the ocean. We enjoyed the new experience of traveling under water to a depth of more than 100 ft, viewing tropical fish, corals, shipwrecks, and learning the history of the Kona bay atea plus the story of the vehicle on which we were traveling. The only downside of the underwater trip was the view through the large portholes, which gave everything a blue tinge. This was understandable, therefore this is not the trip to take to get those beautiful colorful photos of fish and coral. This is a wonderful trip for anyone with a sense of adventure, and/or who has seen “Finding Nemo,” especially the kids!

Taking a submarine ride is something you should do once in your life. This was a very comfortable experience with the only caution being you must climb up and down a latter into the sub. There is plenty of room and you sit right in front of big windows. Gliding over the coral reefs in wonderful. What fish you see is random of course but they are there by the thousands.

I didn't notice we need to show up 30 mins before the "time" on the ticket, and eventually we missed it (I blame Viator for this, there is no notification at all, and the "show up 30 mins" is not emphasized and hard to find / see). However, Atlantis submarine customer service saved the day, they explained the situation to us, and offered free Flight of Aloha for us to kill the time, especially for disappointed kids. This is great user experience from Atlantis side. Again, I blame Viator, should have booked directly with Atlantis so I got notifications.
