We purchased the hop-on hop-off bus in Auckland expecting a straightforward, tourist-friendly experience. Unfortunately, the behaviour of multiple drivers made this one of the most unpleasant tours we’ve encountered. On boarding the first bus, we politely asked the driver to confirm whether it was the hop-on hop-off service. The response was aggressive and dismissive (“Can’t you read?”). On a subsequent bus, my husband attempted to ask a simple clarification question and was loudly yelled at from the bus doorway in front of other passengers, with the bus driver yelling aggressively out the door at the people organising the line “He’s asking questions!!!!”. Another staff member then boarded and told us that “you don’t ask the bus driver questions, they’re not here to answer your questions.” This was not just rudeness — it felt confrontational and humiliating. We are seasoned travellers and understand that drivers have a job to do, but there is absolutely no excuse for treating paying customers this way, particularly tourists who are unfamiliar with the city and service. The experience was so uncomfortable that we chose to walk the 50 minutes back to the cruise port rather than continue using the buses we had already paid for. A hop-on hop-off service should be welcoming, informative, and accessible. Sadly, this one failed badly on basic courtesy and professionalism. I would not recommend it and will be raising this issue with our cruise line as well.

Great way to see the sights of Auckland in a day. During the summer, you can start on the red loop and stay on for the blue loop too.

We lucked out with the additional summer route. These hop on hop off buses are the best and cheapest way to see the city and figure out where to spend some time.

The service operators are extremely rude and aggressive to questions. No one was able to make a question without getting miss-treat and insulted All of them are like that and we had to sit and wait for an hour before we were informed that one bus was broken. Everyone was so afraid that we were sitting in the back are by the museum. Not sure why or how is this happening because New Zealanders are very cordial

Viator can be trusted to deliver. They are reliable and everything that they tell you is given in full sequence . The only hiccups was the inability to “ get tickets “ ….. had to take screenshots as the software faltered at this stage. It didn’t impinge on our enjoyment or experience in any way .

Easy to use and showed up on time. We did the whole route once just to see the city then stopped at various places of interest. The Auckland Museum was very good. We never had an issue getting a bus or a seat.
