Come with us for your Aurora hunt for an amazing and ethical experience underneath the Aurora Borealis. Leave the light pollution in Tromsø behind and travel into the Arctic wilderness. During this tour, our small team of Aurora guides check the forecasts & use local knowledge to decide on the best place to chase the Northern Lights. When we find the best spot, we will dress in warm thermal suits and boots, make a cosy campfire, and enjoy a homemade meal.
You'll be shown how to use your camera, photograph the Aurora, and our guides will take photos of you, available for free in web-sized resolution after the tour.
Enjoy our hot chocolate before being returned to Tromsø island to your hotel. Though there is never a guarantee of seeing this phenomenon, our experienced team will do their best every night of the season.

You should be patient. Bundle up especially for your feet and hands. This was a truly spectacular experience and I'm very glad I had the opportunity to join this tour. Bart was very helpful and friendly.

Excellent guide (Magda) and driver (Iliyan)! Magda took great photos. She was professional, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic. The soup was very good. The use of a microphone in the van would be helpful. A couple talked and laughed a lot, making it hard to hear Magda at times. I highly recommend this tour.

We had a very very nice trip with Magda & Cris. They were helpful, informative, friendly and we particularly appreciated that they took us in a completly different direction than all other groups, letting us time to enjoy a festival of auroras in very quiet and peaceful place. We recommend Wandering Owl. The process of booking, the informations received and pick up were smooth and easy.

The evening was utterly amazing with our very knowledgeable tour guide Jordan and Vitek. Not only did the lights dance for us but we learnt so much and had great fun with the whole group! We weren’t confident we’d see them as it was cloudy but Jordan and Vitek did everything they could to hunt the lights and boy did they succeed with a light show beyond our dreams! We couldn’t have asked for more! Thank you!!

Magda was a perfect accompanist during this aurora borealis outing. We very much appreciated her enthusiasm and these explanations and the fact that she took us to a quiet place, in a remote fjord not to say the opposite of all the groups who were leaving that evening... In addition, we were treated to a real festival of lights!

It was a fantastic experience with a small group. Magda and Cris took great care of us and we were lucky to see some amazing Northern Lights! Magda also took fantastic photos for us so that we could enjoy the lights in the moment and not worry about taking photos.

Would recommend booking with Wandering Owls as they choose to take smaller tour groups out (rather than big buses) and provide a cozier experience. I took one rating off just because we really only saw the aurora once on our tour, which is no fault of theirs, the weather wasn’t great. Had we seen more aurora it would’ve been amazing. That being said the tour and things provided were 5 stars! Our guide, Magda, was incredible! She was clearly very passionate about her job and made our experience even better with all of her knowledge. Our driver, Elian, was superb as well! Our weather conditions at the end of the night were treacherous to say the least but never once did we feel anything but safe with him driving! We would definitely book with them again!!!

BART did a great job chasing the lights, all the way to Finland. But in the end despite some cloud cover we got to see some good activity. Thank you!
