Come with us for your Aurora hunt for an amazing and ethical experience underneath the Aurora Borealis. Leave the light pollution in Tromsø behind and travel into the Arctic wilderness. During this tour, our small team of Aurora guides check the forecasts & use local knowledge to decide on the best place to chase the Northern Lights. When we find the best spot, we will dress in warm thermal suits and boots, make a cosy campfire, and enjoy a homemade meal.
You'll be shown how to use your camera, photograph the Aurora, and our guides will take photos of you, available for free in web-sized resolution after the tour.
During our time together in the wilderness, we will collect data for a citizen science project and help protect the Arctic nature through responsible tourism.
Enjoy our hot chocolate before being returned to Tromsø island to your hotel. Though there is never a guarantee of seeing this phenomenon, our experienced team will do their best every night of the season.

This was absolutely incredible. Michael, Coen and Fabian were with us for our tour and i can easily say it was our best tour (overall and aurora tours combined). They were incredibly kind, Coen had tons of fun facts and was a true library of knowledge concerning the Aurora borealis, as well as the Tromso history and culture. They took amazing pictures, we had great vibes all around and I would go back in a heartbeat. We were lucky and had a full sky of auroras and they really took their time for us. We came home around 1am and it was worth it. Michael was a fantastic driver, very safe (I have hardly seen such impeccable driving), and was constantly in contact with Coen for finding the perfect spots for us. 100/10 recommend !!

Our Aurora Tour led by the erudite Isaac and wonderful Michael was the highlight of our European trip. Whilst luck played a part it was The guides who took it to a whole new level. Isaac is exceptional. His warmth humour and encyclopaedic knowledge made the tour one of the best we have ever experienced. Michael’s quiet but complete support made the trip comfortable and one of a kind. I highly highly recommend Wandering Owl for their small group focus and providing the best tour possible. Isaac and Michael are the gold standard. Hope you win the pizza guys!

They took lot of money but they were unsuccessful in showing aurora. Actually they dint take us far away from citu. Just 1 hr away. They werent chasing lights. They were just doing there daily routine. Next day we went with a different company. They took very less amount and they took 2-3 hrs away towards finland. We got perfect view of lights. Also they havnt send photos. Its been already 4 days.

Coen was an amazing guide and our driver (sorry I forgot his name) was so efficient too! There were some great ice breaker questions and lots of cool information taught to us. The food we ate was great and I loved the hot chocolate😋. I’m not a fan of the cold, BUT this was so worth it and I’ll never forget this moment. Also our driver had good music taste. Thank you again to these two for an unforgettable trip!!! :)

With our captain Michael and guide Jordan, it was indeed a legendary tour chasing Northern Lights. These gentlemen worked very hard, driving us 150 minutes to the Finland Border, in bad weather and snowed out roads to help us tick this bucket list entry of ours. They made it super comfortable, safe, warm and filled with interesting info all the way, and clicked some lovely pictures of ours, to cherish for a lifetime. Thank you Michael-Jordan, for giving us a memory that will live with us dearly till our lifetime!

This tour was absolutely incredible. From start to finish our guide Issac and driver Ellie were amazing. We learnt so much and were fortunate enough to witness some very special Aurora’s. The night ran very smoothly, and although temperatures were absolutely freezing (-18) Issac and Ellie did everything possible to keep us warm and comfy. The soup, hot chocolate and cookies were delicious, and the campfire adds a special touch to the overall experience. It’s very evident this company is passionate in the service and experience they provide. I would book this tour again without hesitation. 100% worth the $$$.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Unforgettable Northern Lights experience with Wandering Owl We did the Northern Lights Aurora Hunt with Wandering Owl last night, including soup and a bonfire on a beach, and it was absolutely spectacular. Our guide, Kun (Coen), was exceptional — incredibly knowledgeable, engaging, and passionate. He explained the aurora beautifully, kept the group interested throughout the night, and was fantastic at helping everyone take great photos of the lights. Our driver, Michael, was equally impressive. He drove confidently and safely through snowy and icy roads, making us feel completely at ease. The vehicle was very comfortable and well suited to Arctic conditions. From the stunning beach location and cozy bonfire to the professionalism of the team and the incredible aurora display, everything was perfectly organised. A truly memorable experience. Highly recommend Wandering Owl to anyone visiting Tromsø and hoping to see the Northern Lights.

My son and I had a wonderful experience. Vitek was a safe driver. Thank you Vitek! Magda was amazing! She did her best to make us all comfortable in the hut. She hustled for our dinner, coffee, hot juice. She made sure to find the gaps and was able to get pictures of each of us. Magda was also extremely passionate and knowledgeable not only about the lights but about Norway and it's traditions. It was an enjoyable and personal experience.
