Come with us for your Aurora hunt for an amazing and ethical experience underneath the Aurora Borealis. Leave the light pollution in Tromsø behind and travel into the Arctic wilderness. During this tour, our small team of Aurora guides check the forecasts & use local knowledge to decide on the best place to chase the Northern Lights. When we find the best spot, we will dress in warm thermal suits and boots, make a cosy campfire, and enjoy a homemade meal.
You'll be shown how to use your camera, photograph the Aurora, and our guides will take photos of you, available for free in web-sized resolution after the tour.
During our time together in the wilderness, we will collect data for a citizen science project and help protect the Arctic nature through responsible tourism.
Enjoy our hot chocolate before being returned to Tromsø island to your hotel. Though there is never a guarantee of seeing this phenomenon, our experienced team will do their best every night of the season.

We had an amazing experience. Our guide Isaac, was fantastic, he explained the science behind the aurora, talk about local culture and took us to beautiful spot where we saw Northern Lights dancing across the sky. The group was wanderful, gathering around fireplace with tasty soup made everything more special. Our driver Illyan was great too, ensuring we traveled safely. A truly unforgettable night!!!!

Our guides were Coen and Michael. They were extremely knowledgeable and friendly and took us to several locations in search for the Aurora. The first visual of the Aurora was disappointing and they were only really visible with a long exposure camera. However, the next stop showed amazing views visible by eye and the subsequent stops were even more spectacular. I hear that it can be hit or miss with this natural phenomena, but these guys work their hardest to provide the best outcome. Would thoroughly recommend them.

This was an exceptionally warm experience in the middle of frozen Norway. The guide (Magda, from Greece and Netherlands) and Vitek the driver were great travel companions. They were funny, engaging, had plenty of stories and were knowledgeable. We took many bathroom breaks, drove for over 2h to find a good spot, were given chairs to sit on, the fire was started immediately, we were offered homemade soup and cookies and hot chocolate and they took great pictures of us. We had tried another tour before this, and this one wins by far when compared. We even managed to see the lights but that almost feels secondary to the great time we had!

What a fabulous evening!!! We were blessed with the most amazing light show, but the tour was just great. Coen and Michael were fantastic- really engaging and informative. They took to to a small beach area where they set up a bonfire, we had soup and watched the lights. They then took us onto a small island where the lights were spectacular. The hot chocolate was lovely, finishing at about 11.30. Highly recommend the tour and the tour guides were just wonderful. Thank you!!

Magda and Micheal were great! We beat all odds to see the Northern lights. Snow and clouds and we still got a sighting. It was special experience to setup camp on a small fjords with a bonfire, soup, and hot chocolate. A trip i highly recommend worth taking!

This tour was amazing. Our guide Isaac was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the northern lights. Was giving us information the entire night. The tour also takes free photos all night so you can sit back and enjoy the evening and get the photos the next day.

Our snowshoe tour in Tromsø was absolutely amazing! It was never boring – in fact, it was so much fun. Our group was made up of super interesting people from all over the world, all very friendly, and it was easy to feel comfortable. We even made some new friends! The tour itself was fantastic, and our guide Mia was incredible. She shared so much interesting information, had an answer for every question, and made the whole experience engaging and enjoyable. I would do this tour again in a heartbeat and highly recommend it to anyone!

I highly recommend the Wandering Owl, a small company who made our tour feel personalised and like a lot of effort had been made to get it right. It was well organised, and our lovely guides Isaac and Iliyan went to a lot of effort to keep us comfortable, warm and fed. Of greatest importance Isaac chose a fantastic location for us to go to to spot the lights by Grotfjord and the setting in which to watch the lights was magical. We had great fortune and saw plenty of lights and Issac was an enthusiastic guide about the lights.
