Come with us for your Aurora hunt for an amazing and ethical experience underneath the Aurora Borealis. Leave the light pollution in Tromsø behind and travel into the Arctic wilderness. During this tour, our small team of Aurora guides check the forecasts & use local knowledge to decide on the best place to chase the Northern Lights. When we find the best spot, we will dress in warm thermal suits and boots, make a cosy campfire, and enjoy a homemade meal.
You'll be shown how to use your camera, photograph the Aurora, and our guides will take photos of you, available for free in web-sized resolution after the tour.
During our time together in the wilderness, we will collect data for a citizen science project and help protect the Arctic nature through responsible tourism.
Enjoy our hot chocolate before being returned to Tromsø island to your hotel. Though there is never a guarantee of seeing this phenomenon, our experienced team will do their best every night of the season.

This was a really marvellous tour. Our guide Aneta was fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble for her and she took some amazing photos of everyone in the group. Everything was super well organised and the experienced guides know how to maximise your chances of seeing the amazing northern lights. If you only do one tour in Tromsø, do this one!!!

We had a great time in our tour. We did the “Adults Only Northern Lights Tour”, we were in 8 people total, and it was perfect for our 1st experience. Our guide was called Aneta, and she was very knowledgeable regarding Norwegian customs and how to finde northern lights. Even with the weather being cloudy in Tromso she found a spot in Skibotn with clear skies and we were lucky to have seen the northern lights. We took several photos, in couples, singles, and she had amazing ideas for photos. It was an amazing tour and I 100% recommend.

The guide was friendly but in clear denial when it was obvious the cloudy day wouldn't allow us to see the auroras. I think when this happens they should just reschedule the activity, instead we stood in the snow for hours with a small fireplace taking pictures of the clouds. I did the tour again another day with a different agency and they moved around the islands a lot looking for the right place. I don't recomend Wondering Owl for this experience.

Magda is our lovely, experienced and knowledgeable guide while Vitek is our funny, easygoing and skillful Captain. Despite the cloudy weather, with rains from time to time, Vitek drove us to a spot where the mountain will block the clouds, forming a gap for us to wait for Northern lights while Magda constantly checking the skies with camera and updating Captain on where to set up camp to avoid the crowded area, making the whole aurora hunting + camping experience really really personalized and unforgettable! "When is the last time you had a campfire? And when is the last time you had a campfire in the Arctic?" Asked Magda while serving us hot chocolate, veggie soup and coffee, explaining the science and history behind Aurora. (Her self made Christmas cookies are delicious and cute!) Vitek is such a funny Captain doing research on ice breaking event enroute to camping spot, about whether we can accept pineapple on a pizza or not, such a cool and easygoing dude! He is also responsible of carrying the food and drinks to our campsite as well as erasing the campfire before leaving. They also drop us off at our hotels and chosen spot (as near as possible) for EACH passenger! Very personalized and took extremely good care of everyone, making sure we are in thermal suit and boots before heading to camp site and all. 11/10, nuff said. Would come again.

It was an wonderful experience! We headed out with a very bad weather forecast (too much cloud) and we couldn't see much throughout the drive. However, our tour guides- Mia and Vitek- are super professional and they know how to give us the best chance. It the end we saw the corona and a dance of the northern light because our tour guides were able to find us a spot where sky was not covered by clouds. Lots of good photo and very yummy soup/ chocolate. They were also very good at explaining to us how human activities could damage the permafrost environment easily. That was my first northern light tour but the best one in explaining the in and outs of northern lights, which was super helpful because for the rest of my tours, none of the other ones were as good.

Jordan was our tour guide. He was an Aussie with a passion for science, and did an amazing job. He was patient and service oriented, and took photographs for all of our fellow travelers. Vitek was our driver. He did a wonderful job ensuring the journey was safe for all. We got very lucky. The skies cleared up, and the light show dazzled us for hours! It was truly otherworldly and exceeded our expectations.

We've seen the most amazing northern lights. The tour guide knew his spots and was very well informed. The bonfire and soup was a nice addition and the thermal suits were comfortable and warm
