We will drive to one or more locations to find the best Aurora viewing for you. We are a smaller tour company, we can offer you a more personal Aurora viewing experience. We will take FREE professional photographs of you and Aurora. We have free tripods rental for the smaller tripod and larger tripods available to rent. All tours have hot chocolate and delicious Canadian Maple cookies.

What To Expect
Yellowknife River Territorial Park Day Use Area
Each night we don’t know where we are going, it depends on Aurora, the weather and the other tour companies. But we try our best each night to find Aurora for you. Please know we are Aurora Hunting specialists, we have no cabins, tents or washrooms. Where we go is nothing but wilderness and wildlife and Aurora. Due to the nature of the tour, being more adventurous and late into the evening, age range is 5yrs old and up.

5.00We had an incredible evening the night we went. The sky was clear and the Aurora was exceptionally active. Our guides Rose Ann and Cashis were very friendly and informative. Their local knowledge made a difference. We had a lot of fun. We particularly appreciated Cash’s enthusiasm and talent for taking the photos of us all with the Aurora in the background. Would definitely book again and recommend North Star Adventures.

5.00An excellent trip. Our guide Saige was kind, knowledgeable, and very approachable. She had an amazing energy, sense of pride in her culture, and enthusiasm for what she does. Saige was complemented with our driver Rose Ann to make for a pleasant hunt. They worked to keep us informed and entertained as we waited for the Aurora to appear.

5.00We chose Northern Star Adventures for a variety of reasons…indigenous owned and operated, highly rated etc and they did not disappoint. We did 2 nights of Aurora hunting and one dogsled experience. They were super fun and every activity was followed with hot chocolate. Bonus! I would highly recommend them to anyone wanting to view the northern lights.

5.00This tour was so amazing, we went twice. We went with one other tour, too, just to check it out, and it was really inferior. Northstar knew how to find the Lights, and when they dimmed, they took us higher up where the Lights dimmed, we moved to another spot where they were bright and shimmering. They had a warming hut for part of the tour, and one guide made us fry bread. There were chairs for viewing and photos taken of us to preserve our memories. If you want to go Aurora hunting, this is the tour company to book.

5.00Great tour. Our two guides, a father and his grand son, were great. They were both indigenous people and native to the area (not to mention the creator of Aurora Hunting) both entertaining and kind. Most importantly, the tour was great. We were optimistic with a 98% success rate finding Auroras and saw a beautiful sky early in the tour, where we took some time to enjoy. Then found an equally impressive display later. Great tour and got back at a reasonable hour.

5.00Expert guidance to the best viewing sites of the Aurora over 4 hours. It was a small party of 10 on a typical night (-27 degrees). Bus was warm and the hot chocolate was greatly appreciated. And then mother nature put on her show. The Aurora lit up the night! Not just green but different hues of pink and purple. Kids had a good time too enjoying the stars of the night sky. Highly recommend this tour.

5.00This tour changed my life. It was a spectacular night hunting Aurora with Saige and Joe. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience with our family last night. It was cold but the lights made it worth it. A special thanks to Saige for the beautiful song. A night to remember for a long time. An added special bonus were the photos. I look forward to coming back and hunting Aurora with North Star Adventure again.

5.00Jiho (Joe) was our guide and he was amazing. He was born in this area and knows the Aurora! He drove until he found a few good spots for us to view the Aurora. He took pictures for us and entertained us all night with his knowledge of the area and its history! It was a very cold but delightful evening. He topped it off by serving us hot chocolate and maple cookies! 😊
