It won't be Aurora today, so I'm refinancing. Recommend this company. Thank you again. I made a lot of choices. Honest. And something similar happened in other areas. I think it's a trusted company to solve right away.

Best! Guide Saige and Chief Ekpreet are the best experts. It was cloudy all day long, and they were worried that they would not go back and forth, and they searched for the winds and the stars, moved from east to west, and began the Aurora hunt. Everywhere I went I saw Aurora avoiding the clouds and it was really great!! The guide Saige was impressed by the careful care of constantly taking pictures of children and families, preparing warm cocoa and hot packs and camping chairs. It was a small trip, and it was a pleasure to travel through the experience of guides and the history of the area, and various other travel tips. The driver, Ekpreet, was also comfortable driving safely while the road was cloudy and snowy. If you go back, you will choose 200% North Hunting Tours!!! Thank you very much! Thanks to them, I created the greatest memories of my life ^^ Super thank you !!!!💕👍👍👍

The staff was fantastic from start to finish — attentive, organized and very prepared. They made the Aurora Boreal experience even more special, with care in every detail and a caress that made all the difference (including the surprise of the flag of Brazil!). Super recommend for those who want to live the magic of Yellowknife with safety and emotion!

I had a great experience doing North Star Adventures’ Aurora Hunting Tour! Our guide Brandon was great, he brought us to the best spots to see the Aurora. It was 1000% better than renting a car and trying to figure out by ourselves where to go, especially since there were clouds in some areas on the night we went out. The hot chocolate definitely helped to keep us warm on a chilly night. Highly recommend, next time I’ll try some of their other tours.

We went on the Aurora Hunting Tour on October 27, 2025. Although there were some patchy clouds, our amazing guides Elizabeth and Keanna, along with our driver Rose Ann, went above and beyond — analyzing wind directions and taking us to the best spots for clear skies. We were rewarded with an incredible view of the magnificent, dancing Aurora lights! I highly recommend the Aurora Hunting Tour with North Star Adventure. The team truly cares about their guests, sharing fascinating stories, serving cookies and hot chocolate, and even taking and sharing beautiful photos. Thank you for an unforgettable experience!

It was a cloudy night but Joe drove around trying to find a patch of clear sky. We finally did get glimpses of Lady Aurora and managed to get a few pictures. Throughout the tour, we were entertained and educated hearing Joe’s stories about indigenous culture. We even learned the use of the term “hunting for northern lights” was first coined by Joe himself to reflect his indigenous background. Thanks for a great evening!

Unfortunately the weather was cloudy but our guide and driver worked really hard and eventually we got to see the light show. So looking forward to seeing the photos Elizabeth took.

The experience was bad, but to be fair, given the circumstances, only some of this was in their control. The predicted/forecast cloud and rain prevented any real possibility of the aurora. But this experience has provided me to two main insights (concerns) that would have me recommend not to use North Star Adventures: 1. Poor value for money - North Star Adventures appears to spend more effort in their marketing than they do on optimising the experience. We used more than one tour operator in Yellowknife, and NSA was by far and away the most expensive. Consequently our expectations were managed by their marketing hype of: indigenous authenticity; extra effort in hunting the aurora; and avoiding the pack of tour operators. But ultimately we were disappointed on all fronts. Our guide was nice and friendly (and YK dene first nation), but there seems to have been very little effort in training or building a commendable indigenous experience. As for 'expert guides using technology and traditional skills to read the skies and then find the best places', this is pure marketing. The initial direction-setting stop felt rehearsed, and just like every other tour operator they can only go east or west from YK, and just like every other operator they did both. And so we sat in the same car parks just off the highway as every other operator. This is all fine, but it's less fine if you've paid double the price as every other operator. 2. Cancellation / postponement policies need to be fair. - No one at NSA will convince me that on the night in question they had any real expectation of sighting the aurora. Rain and cloud was forecast and very set in. They and we both knew we were wasting our time. Their policies therefore appear to be self serving and not in the best interests of their customers. Comparable experiences elsewhere often have favourable policies that allow customers to not only avoid being forced to take part in a predictably boring/fruitless tour (when success is all but impossible), but also allow them to try again. In reality NSA should have cancelled the tour that evening, and found a way to help their customers to visit again. Instead, they got paid, and went through the motions (at our expense). Nice, friendly tour guide, nice van. Good driver. But not worth paying extra for – no matter what you read about Carrie Fisher in their marketing.

Our guide Joe showed a wealth of experience, hunting for and finding aurora sightings on a difficult cloudy night, moving locations both east and west of Yellowknife. Joe knows his craft well and provided a wealth of knowledge, both of auroral activity and local history and was most entertaining. Couldn't recommend his service more highly.

We couldn’t have chosen a better aurora hunting tour to go with. We loved our aurora hunting tours. We had 2 nights of great shows. The maple cookies are so good and Lilian’s stories and singing are top notch. We had the best drivers, too. From their office staff to the guides and drivers— everyone was so accommodating and helpful. Highly, highly recommend!
