Inspired by Chaji, the most formal style of tea gathering, this experience offers a rare opportunity to engage deeply with the Way of Tea—far from crowded tourist demonstrations. Your visit begins in the garden with a simple purification ritual at the tsukubai, followed by entry into the tea room. Inside, enjoy a carefully guided ceremony that includes a seasonal Shōkadō bento prepared by a professional chef, a traditional charcoal ceremony, and the preparation and sharing of thick tea (koicha) and thin tea (usucha). Seasonal sweets, selected tea utensils, and the tokonoma alcove create a refined atmosphere rooted in mindfulness and harmony. This intimate experience is ideal for guests seeking a calm, respectful, and authentic encounter with Japanese culture. The host Ruriko was incredibly knowledgeable and took the time to explain each step of the ceremony, which made it both educational and deeply meaningful. 5.00My friends were absolutely delighted with the experience and came out of Ruriko's house glowing. Sadly, I only made the arrangements for my friends to spend time wtih Ruriko. I am bringing more friends in April 2026 and am eager to book an experience as soon as possible.
