Curzon Hall
Curzon Hall is a stunning blend of Mughal and European architecture located within the Dhaka University campus. Travelers will marvel at its red-brick arches, intricate designs, and historical significance. Built in 1904, it was initially intended as a town hall but now serves as the Faculty of Science. Walking through Curzon Hall, visitors experience a piece of Bangladesh’s colonial past, with beautiful green lawns and gardens adding to its charm. The hall is also a symbol of Bangladesh's Language Movement, where students gathered to advocate for Bengali as an official language, making it a meaningful stop for history enthusiasts.
Shahid Minar
The Shaheed Minar (Martyrs' Monument) is a powerful symbol of Bangladesh’s fight for linguistic and cultural identity. Located near Dhaka University, this memorial honors the students and activists who sacrificed their lives in the 1952 Language Movement, demanding Bengali be recognized as an official language. The monument’s design, featuring vertical columns symbolizing a mother and her fallen children, evokes deep emotions. Every year on February 21 (International Mother Language Day), thousands visit to pay tribute. A visit to the Shaheed Minar offers travelers a meaningful glimpse into Bangladesh’s history of resilience and pride in its language and heritage.

The Old Dhaka Tour was one of the realest and most insightful looks into the lives of everyday Dhaka people. Shamrat, my guide, was awesome! He provided lots of history and culture. He asked what I wanted to see, so that he could either tailor my tour. We were all over the city, using Uber, rickshaws, and walking. I'm not sure if I could have managed it alone.

Me and my partner took the Dhaka Old City Tour with Tuhin. We decided to go by car which I would suggest was a mistake as the roads in Dhaka are very congested and it’s better to travel by Rickshaw as suggested. Be prepared to have your senses blown by the sheer mass of people and things happening. Tuhin said the Biriyani was the best in Dhaka and I believe him. It was truly sensational. My partner was ill for this tour and Tuhin and the driver were very accommodating and caring. Tuhin went above and beyond to help us and I could even see from his phone calls how naturally helpful a person he is to everybody.

The guide Tanvir gave me a very great tour of Dhaka. He was able to answer any of my questions about history and culture. It was a pleasure meeting him and talking with him. The tour was tailored entirely to my needs and wishes. This tour is highly recommendable.

Insignia Tour assigned Tanvir to be our guide for this Old Dhaka tour. We started the tour from our hotel in a motorised 3 wheeler through the streets of Old Dhaka, experiencing the real chaotic traffic, incessant horning, then walking through the narrow streets of the old town. Tanvir was most patient & knowledgeable, guiding us through the huge crowds, showing us the local attractions. We next crossed the very busy Buriganga river on a small boat to see the many ships under repair. The sight of hundreds of other boats ferrying thousands of local across was indeed an experience. We finished the tour visiting the Pink Palace & famous Dhaka University. Insignia Tour & guide planned our itinerary well & we thoroughly enjoyed the day trip.

This tour was fantastic! It is a packed day in the heart of Old Dhaka, offering traditional tourist sites (Lalbagh Fort, Pink Palace), less touristic locations (Dhaka University, markets), and catered options depending on your interests. Insignia Tours really cares about the customer experience; the owner and tour guides do everything to make the tourist comfortable and happy. My tour guide, Nomaan, was spectacular. He quickly learned my interests and likes, incorporating the handicraft market and a traditional milk tea stall into our itinerary at the last minute! We rode rickshaws through the narrow streets of Old Dhaka, and I saw so many different facets of the area/city. The whole day was truly an experience, and I'm grateful to have had Nomaan's knowledge and support as we navigated the chaos of Old Dhaka together! Highly recommended as a must-do, must-see tour!

Our guide Tanvir bhai is by far the most prominent guide. He is knowledgeable, kind and modest, and did his best for what we wanted to do. Thanks to him, our experience in Bangladesh was so memorable. When we come back to Bangladesh, we will ask him again.

What a day! If you want to see Old Dhaka then this is the trip for you. My guide for this trip was Sayeed who works for Insignia Tours. He was extremely knowledgeable and entertaining and answered all my questions patiently. Highlights of the trip were a wander around the flower market, a visit to Curzon Hall, the University established in 1921, then a walk through the narrow streets of the old market with all its sights, sounds and smells. Amazing place and not to be missed by lovers of markets. My favourite of the day was the boat ride to the ship repair yard sited on the river Bank. You are able to walk around and see them working on and repairing sizeable ships. A brilliant day! Thoroughly recommended.
