Tour changed without notice. Boat ride cancelled. Didn’t get to see Cenote or the colors of lagoon. We booked two tours through Viator & both changed upon arrival. Not worth the money!

Transportation to and from the Lagoon (from the Costa Maya) was reasonably comfortable and the drivers were attentive and appropriately cautious. Once on site in Bacalar, the location of the dock/boats had restrooms and spaces to change clothes. Once on the boat, our driver Fernando did an excellent job. Tino (our guide on the lagoon, and one of our drivers) was particularly fun, articulate, informative. The Lagoon is beautiful - an amazing site to see...and the guys made sure we enjoyed it. We'd suggest less time swimming (since the air was cold anyway) and a bit more site-seeing on the lagoon. Drinks in the vans and on the boat were abundant, fruit on the boat was delicious. The taco lunch on the drive back was delicious. We were back at the boat in plenty of time. Tino stayed with one of our party a few extra minutes when their "sea pass" couldn't be found (was soon found!). DO this tour, and ask for Tino! One small issue was "getting to the van". A really detailed map was provided in the materials that were sent ahead. But a key exit from the port area seemed "blocked" and we had to walk past it (which took longer than expected). All ended well, but our advice is to be on the lookout for changes and ask for help. In the end, our driver was exactly where we were told- it just took a little extra time to get there. (Chac Ek folks may want to look into whether the "first exit to the right once you enter the port from the boat" is still open. On our day, no one seemed to be exiting there.)

Just go! Don't let the 1 1/2 hour drive scare you. It was an easy ride & they stopped halfway for us. I really no idea what to expect but pictures do not do this place justice. The water was so fresh & pristine. Our lunch tacos were delicious. Everybody really treated us special. Definitely will do it again.

We were nervous the night before. We had only vague instructions where and when to meet, and that we had to get off of our ship as early as possible; the tour would depart 20 minutes after the first group arrived at the meeting spot. When we woke up, I had a WhatsApp message with a video message about how to find the meeting spot. Very helpful! But there were four ships in port, all with different disembarkation schedules. We ended up waiting for almost an hour before starting our tour. Carol was our guide for this lovely excursion. We boarded a very nice van (8 tourists, driver and guide) and drove for about 1 hour to reach Bacalar, stopping for fresh pineapple and mangoes along the way. We then boarded a comfortable pontoon boat and Carol explained how the cenotes were formed, which made up the beautiful fresh-water lagoon. We made several stops to wade in the shallow bright blue water lined with white limestone, surrounded by the dark greens, blues, purples and blacks of the much deeper cenotes. We spent about 1 1/2 hrs at the lagoon, then drove to a lovely outdoor taco restaurant for a nice lunch, then back to the cruise port with time to spare. We learned so much from Carol about the cenotes, the pirate history of the area and the people who live in this part of the Yucatan Peninsula. We really enjoyed it!

Great tour overall! The meeting point was a bit of a walk from the port, but everything else made up for it. Our guide Rafael was friendly, professional, and very knowledgeable. Pineapple Town was a fun stop for souvenirs, and the lagoon was absolutely beautiful. The boat and the family who ran it were very welcoming, and the fresh pineapple and mango at the lagoon were delicious. Lunch was just okay, but the staff was super friendly. Bring a towel and small bills or pesos for tips. Really enjoyed this tour and would recommend it!

Great day! Extremely thoughtful and attentive tour operators. Authentic lunch in open air restaurant. Your guide (Adan) very knowledgeable and passionate about land and water formations as well as area wildlife. One thing to note is that you need to go all the way out of the “port area” to get to where you will see the tour sign. It’s not really that far, but it’s easy to think you have gone far enough when you really haven’t.

The meeting place was well described. The little over 1 hour drive by car was very entertaining. "Adan" the tour guide told us a lot about Land&People. He spoiled us with drinks and fine tequila throughout the trip. Even while we enjoyed the lagoons, they served us fresh fruit in the water. A big thank you also goes to the driver "Hassan" and the boatmaster "Abraham". Thank you all for the great trip.:-)
