Magnificent day with Made who picked us up from the hotel , then took us directly to the market , frequented only by Balinese . Far from the tourist tumult. Market with a thousand colors. We discovered the different spices, fruits , grilled pig , thanks to Made's patient explanations . He welcomed us to his superb home with coffee and delicious banana donuts. Very precise, patient, cheerful , it allowed us to cook a full meal that we then enjoyed . Surrounded by his family who work all along, we spent a day that will remain a beautiful memory. Suksama Mady!!! (Max, if you see this review try to contact me. Your phone did not register correctly).

Book this! It was an amazing experience. We thoroughly enjoyed the market and felt privileged to be welcomed into the beautiful family compound. The warmth and professionalism shown was wonderful. The class was extremely well organised and we learnt much about the culture, too. Lunch was incredible. Highly recommended.

A very interesting experience with our passionate host, sharing his culture - lots of information. The cooking class was at home, beautiful Balinese house. Everything was prepared and programmed at its best, ending with a ritual of gratitude after a delicious traditional meal! The best is to go, you will love this sensational immersion!

What a wonderful day we've just had at the Lobong cooking experience. We were picked up from our hotel at 8am and taken to join our classmates at the local markets. All the time while driving then guiding us through the markets, Made shared life in Bali. Happy to answer all our questions we learnt so much! After the market trip, we arrived at his family compound. Beautifully landscaped gardens show the pride they have in their home and it was a pleasure to share it with them for the morning. The cooking was taught in a similar manner - with generosity and kindness. Our group had a wide range of ages and all felt included. Made was supported by his family who were also attentive and kind. The menu was delicious with far more food than we could eat. The group voted the chicken curry the winner. Our drive back to Ubud was full of more background and information. A truly valuable experience and great way to learn more about this island

This experience has been unforgettable! Sang Made Merta share his experience about cooking and about how is life in Bali with us and we appreciated it really. I would say that it’s a mystic experience that I highly recommend to all people that visit Ubud. The food was amazing definitely and we ate what we cooked together before. Thanks Sang Made for making us collecting new memories 🙏🏿

We had the most fabulous morning / afternoon spent at the Lobong Culinary Experience with Made and his family. Everyone absolutely loved it and the food was simply divine. Made picked us up from our accommodation in Ubud and drove us first to Sayan market where we learnt a little about the local delicacies and treats, sampled some fruit and took in all the sights, sounds and smells! We then headed to Made's family compound where we enjoyed Bali coffee (or tea) and banana fritters which were a sample of the beautiful food to come. The cooking class is VERY hands on and we made a whole menu from scratch. No pastes or bought in mixes. It is authentic, delicious and a lot of fun. Highly recommend you do this when in Ubud!

My partner and I really enjoyed the cooking class, the trip to the market was wonderful. We have done cooking classes in a few countries and this was by far the best. We learned a lot about Bali and the culture from Sunday, your welcoming host. He speaks perfect English and is able to describe lots about food and Bali, always checking if you have any questions. The food was wonderful and everything was very well organised, I would highly recommend this class.

Still wondering if you should do a cooking class while in Ubud? Just do this one. You will not regret the decision. Yes the cooking is the main star, but the time spent with Sang Made travelling to the market and then to his house, is a activity by itself. He shares lots of information and answers questions you may have. The house compound is an oasis with beautiful gardens and a wonderful setting for the cooking class. Now to the cooking class - very easy to follow and replicate and the meal at the end is wonderfully presented and of course super delicious. Hospitality at its best!
