What To Expect

Experience the tranquility of traditional Japanese artisanship in this new bamboo lantern-making activity! Join us for a hands-on workshop where you'll learn the art of crafting these beautiful lanterns from natural bamboo. Not only will you be able to pick your own bamboo piece to work on, but you'll also be free to decorate it as you wish, under initial guidance from the workshop host. Create lasting memories and a delightful souvenir of your visit for yourself and your loved ones, all whilst immersing yourself in the rich cultural heritage of Japan. Book your spot now and bring the gentle light of your handmade lantern to your home. *Please note that this activity takes place outdoors. Be sure to wear attire suitable for outdoor conditions. Exceptions will be made in cases of extreme weather, such as heavy rain, thunderstorms, or heavy snow. *Please also be aware that this activity requires participants to operate a hand-drill (provided). Parents/guardians are responsible for supervising children at all times.

Space Bepu is the name of the studio and will help when getting transportation to the location. Everyone was super friendly and the project was so much for fro the whole family. This is a one of a kind souvenir you won't find anywhere else!

Easy to find. Activity completed outside. Really fun and easy to complete. Staff spoke English. Instructions very easy to understand. Relax and have fun with it. Would do it again

We had a great time creating our lanterns, combining patterns to make them one-of-a-kind. It was a perfect way to relax after a busy day of sight seeing. We really enjoyed meeting Masa and learning a bit about the history of Beppu. Massa also pointed the way and even made us a reservation at an excellent izakaya where we had some great local dishes. Highly recommend this.
