We had a group of 14 enjoyed the Gondola and the beautiful sunset . You do need to make reservations for food in advance for it was quite busy… and the complimentary Roam transit is from Banff location only. We were in Canmore and did not know that until the day of our event

A must do when in Banff! There are 2 ways to get there if you don’t have a car. The Roam transit which is free and they also have a shuttle at certain pick up locations. It was very organized to get in line and the view was spectacular!

This is the same experience that you can book downtown but with the convenience of Viator instead of waiting in line. I highly recommend, with one pro tip-the ticket is also a ticket for the bus so make sure it’s printed. Enjoy the ride. The staff at the gondola are professional and I felt very safe during the ride. Five stars!

This banff gondola puts you at the height of 7500 sq. ft. From that platform, the view is just OK. You get better view if you are willing to up steps which leads you up to other 1000 feet high. Once gondola brings you to main platform by the cafe, you see a few steps takng you down a little. After you go down about 20 steps, you will see a bunch of steps leading you back up. You keep going up the wooden steps, where there are different stopping points. After you go up about 200 steps, you can get to a trail where (4 km. one way) which is optional hike. But if you just stand at the very beginning of that trail, you get amazing view of the mountains covered by greenery which is well worth it. You take a few photos there, enjoy the beauty and then go up other set of 200 steps or so if you want until there is a point where it stops you from going to the tower all the way up. If you don't wan to go all the way to total 400 or so steps, it's ok. But if you go to the at least beginning of the first trail, then the gondola ride is worth it in my opinion. If you are doing only gondola and just stop there, there is no need to do it. You get average view of the town.
