Banteay Srei
Banteay Srei, the "Citadel of Women," is a Khmer architectural masterpiece in Cambodia's Angkor region. Dedicated to Shiva, this temple captivates with its intricate carvings and delicate pink sandstone. Unlike Angkor's colossal structures, Banteay Srei's smaller scale allows for exceptional detail and preservation. Every surface is adorned with elaborate motifs – divine beings, floral patterns – narrating Hindu mythology. Wander through its corridors and be mesmerized by the exquisite craftsmanship. Each lintel, frieze, and pediment is breathtakingly detailed. The sandstone's reddish hues glow in the sunlight, adding to the temple's mystique. Visiting Banteay Srei is like stepping into an ancient art gallery. Sculptures and bas-reliefs whisper tales of gods, demons, and celestial beings, where intricate design and spiritual beauty intertwine. Its compact size belies the immense artistry within, creating an intimate and unforgettable experience.
Kompong Phluk
Kompong Phluk village in Cambodia harmoniously integrates human life with nature's changes. Stilt houses rise above Tonle Sap Lake, showcasing adaptability to seasonal floods that turn streets into waterways. During the wet season, the village seems to float, creating an enchanting ambiance. The community thrives on fishing and agriculture, blending seamlessly with the ever-shifting environment. Encircled by mangrove forests, the village offers a haven for diverse wildlife, highlighting its ecological importance. As the sun sets, the village buzzes with life—children's laughter, fishermen's returns, and boats swaying in the breeze. Kompong Phluk is a blend of tradition and adaptation, where nature dictates life's rhythm and community spirit shines amidst elemental challenges, inviting all to witness its unique way of life.

Chuop was the best tour guide we could have asked for to not only see Angkor wat and the temples around, but also to learn about the history from an expert local. While exploring the temples it was very hot outside so having the air conditioned car with water to go to in between was a huge plus. Chuop showed us cool spots we would have not been able to find ourselves and gave us time to explore the temples on our own so the tour never felt rushed. We even mentioned to him that we wanted to buy some authentic Cambodian pepper and he went out of his way to take us to a local place to buy some. Overall he was an amazing tour guide and I would reccomend him to anyone going to siem reap!

Chuop (or Lucky as we called him) is an excellent tour guide and we would thoroughly recommend him for anyone wanting tours in Angkor and Siem Reap. We had 4 tours with Chuop and they were all first class. We went to many temples including Angkor Thom and the Bayon, Ta Som, Kbal Spean and Banteay Srei, Pre Rup, Bakong and the Tonle Sap lake to see the floating villages. Chuop is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about Cambodia’s amazing history and incredible culture. Chuop’s English is good, and that allowed him to tell us all about the history of many temples in Angkor from the first temple to the last one built. He explained many aspects of Angkor’s Hinduism past and how Buddhism became the dominant religion. Not only was Chuop incredibly knowledgable he was also very caring, funny, flexible and a very positive presence to be with on our holiday. Nothing was too much trouble for him to arrange for us and he’s an excellent smart phone photographer, capturing lots of moments of my partner and I, together in front of the temples. We’d wholeheartedly recommend Chuop to anyone wanting to visit the best sites of Angkor with the best guide! Thank you Chuop we felt incredibly lucky to have you as our guide 😀😀😀😀
