Meet your guide at the Plaça Sant Jaume in Barcelona's Gothic Quarter to begin this 3-hour culinary walking tour. As you head to your first tapas bar of the day, chat with your local guide about Barcelona's cultural legacy, its gastronomy, and the historical landmarks as you see. Stroll the streets where Antoni Gaudí and Pablo Picasso once walked as you get to know the history and the flavors of the Catalonian capital city.. Sample dishes like Iberian ham, various cheeses from around Spain, pimientos de padrón, the spicy patatas bravas, traditional grilled bread with tomato, fresh octopus, and several other dishes accompanied by fine local wine pairings and the best company. After a sip and a nibble, it's time to move onto the next spot and repeat the delicious process. Visit four of Barcelona's best tapas bars/restaurants in total, then bid your guide farewell at the end of the excursion with a full stomach and a deeper understanding of Catalonian cuisine and culture. Our guide, Ori, was great. The information Ori provided about the food and the area was excellent. But the overall quality and quantity of food was very disappointing. The first stop we all crowded around small tables in corner. The restaurant did not serve enough cheese for everyone to try each variety. At our second stop, we stood outside of the restaurant and 11 of us shared 3 hand held paper containers of fried fish and 3 pour bottles of wine. From our conversations with other guests, they shared opinions of leaving the tour still hungry. My wife and I have gone on 25+ food tours and this tour definitely rates in the bottom 5.

This was hands down THE BEST most Enjoyable Entertaining and beautifully presented wine snd food tour EVER thanks to our OUTSTANDING highly PERSONABLE and amazingly KNOWLEDGEABLE TOUR GUIDE HUGO and the carefully curated venues and the exceptionally delicious wines and tapas presented at an extremely modest tour price. We were taken by tiny back lanes we would never have found on our own to 3unique an ancient venues which were fully prepared to wow us with their food and drinks. I will take this tour very time I visit Barcelona and urge everyone else to do the same.

We spent the evening with Berta. Such a great time learning about Barcelona, its history, food and wine. She could not have been a better host for her hometown of Barcelona. Funny, knowledgeable and quick to laugh, Berta made the evening a memorable one. Highly recommend asking for her.

This tour focused on savoring food and drink, together with key historical sites, was a nice blend of tasting and sightseeing, well worth the time and price. Camilo was a very good guide, he is from South America, and his wife is Catalan. He was friendly and knowledgeable, he took us to the best places, and he was obviously known by the shops’ operators. We were served some fine food and drink, in just the right amounts to keep us going, and ready for more. One of the drinks was so good, I am determined to get some for home – it was a local, traditional drink called vermut, similar to vermouth, but with aromatic seasonings. I would describe it as: a light, brandy-like body, with taste undertones similar to aperol or campari. I’m not sure I could drink it at 1000 hrs of the morning like the locals, heh heh, but it will make a fine addition to the spirits I use for mixing my evening cocktails at home. Big thanks to the tour company Barcelona Local Experiences: I was late arriving at the tour start place – I had just landed from my air travel from the US – but the company was extremely helpful, they told me where the tour would be at their second stop, and I rendezvous’d with the group there.

Very little and very low quality tapas were actually provided for the price. No detailed explanation about the tapas or general information about tapas. Left hungry and learned almost nothing about tapas…
