Explore the secret city of Bari with an expert archaeologist among hidden treasures from Roman, early Christian and Byzantine times.
Tour begins next to the archaeological Via Traiana in Ferrarese Square, a short section of the ancient Roman road built by Romans in the early II century A.D. until you reach Santa Scolastica Archaeological Museum.
Tour goes on to the Cathedral of Saint Sabinus, a precious example of Romanesque Apulian style, which hides a whorty archaeological itinerary in the underground sites named Succorpo.
Tour ends at the imposing and solemn Basilica of Saint Nicholas, symbol of the union between East and West, which hosts the relics of the Saint.
According to the museum' opening hours and availability, two of the following archaeological sites will be visited during the tour: Palazzo Simi, Swabian Castle, Basilica of Saint Nicholas with its precious Crypt, Cathedral Succorpo, Saint Scolastica Museum.

Palazzo Simi - Centro Operativo per l’Archeologia
An elegant 16th-century 'palace-style' house with a central courtyard, service rooms on the ground floor, and a noble floor accessible via a staircase.
Il Succorpo della Cattedrale di Bari
An archaeological site that, in 1960, unearthed a mosaic floor with an intriguing inscription from the early Christian era (5th-6th century).

5.00Deep dive of Bari history told through underground history. Up close view of original frescos and architecture found under beautiful sites in historic Bari. Guide did a great job of story telling and gave excellent recommendations as I continued my afternoon.

5.00It was wonderful. The tour guide was very awesome! She was a native of Bari, this was great!!! And an archeologist also educated locally at university! She told us SO much and easily answered every question anyone had!! I’d love to have her as my guide again!!!!

5.00Fabio, the guide, was nothing short of exceptional. In addition to being an archaeologist, therefore an "expert", and 'attentive person, very scrupulous and professional. The attention to historical-artistic detail and 'was remarkable without ever using technicalities incomprehensible to most. What about it? Even a person who has no training in the subject, after the visit, wishes to deepen and see more. Fabio answered my many questions calmly and precisely. OTTIMO! On my next return to Bari I hope it is still available...
