We were picked up at 4am to take the bumpy ride to the top of the volcano. Our driver, Jorge, navigated the way with ease. Once we got there, there is a bathroom and we walked another 15 minutes to the very top. DRESS WARM! Our guides had extra clothing and blankets in their vehicles. We had perfect weather for the sunrise. After the sunrise we walked the 15 minutes back down and had breakfast with hot chocolate (they have coffee too). This excursion was part of our tour and on of my favorite things that we did!!

I had an horrible night, I got my reservation confirmation but my shuttle never showed up. Had been waiting outside in the cold for over a hour. Will go see if I get my money back and go back to bed >:(

Went on this Tour on March 6th, it was raining , windy cold and cloudy with almost zero visibility, just when i thought all hope was gone lamenting that we came on a bad weather day ...the Heavens opened up and God showed his amazing power, to witness tsi happen in real time is a moving event.

Our first vehicle had some problems and they had to meet us with another vehicle. It didn’t take very long and we still made it up before sunrise. It was absolutely breathtaking and overall a very pleasant trip. Our guide was personable and informative.

The bumpy ride to the top is well worth it. Bring warm clothes and be ready to be amazed by the view. As the sun rises, it is a glorious sight to see the sky light up and to know that you are at the very top of the world! Our driver was kind and they provided a cute breakfast box that hit the spot. A one of a kind experience.

If you're assigned John as a driver and so-called guide, refuse! He made us miss the beginning of the sunrise by his incompetence. When the night ended, he left us in the car and went to talk with his colleagues. When I was worried about what was going on, he said "do as you please" when we had no information on the way forward. Shameful. Bordering on the scam

Breathtaking! The ride up was quite bumpy and the “monster trucks” were built to handle the terrain. I was thankful we did not try to hike up- VERY challenging! We brought winter clothing (ski gloves/coat, scarves, hat… and I am glad we did! The wind is quite aggressive and frigid. It feels way colder than the temperature indicates. The views were stunnnnnning! We were above the clouds and could see the sun emerge and reveal the city and oceans. Really other worldly! Experience of a lifetime.

This was quite an exhilarating, bumpy, fishtailing way to get to the top of the volcano and overall we enjoyed it very much. A small breakfast was provided and we stopped to take Quetzal pictures on the way down. We would have appreciated an earlier update on our pickup time. Initially we were told 3:45 so we waited in the dark until 4:10 and then we were sent a text that they would be there in 10 mins. Also there was a lot of rain prior to our visit and on our way up, all the 4x4 tours were stuck in the mud--which was out of their control of course. But our guide left to walk ahead for updates and a plan but left us in 4x4 without updates for too long. With some towing, we all made it to the top and the road was repaired somewhat prior to our return. I don't think they ever cancel so make sure to check the weather. We would also have appreciated some information about the volcano and area during the drive. It's expensive but we are glad we did it and very happy we didn't try to hike up.
