This tour which was lined up by a travel agency in Texas, About Australia. The tour to Beachcomber island was not a good tour. Will try to explain a little bit why. The tour started when the Beachcomber representative led us to the boat, about a line of 60 people young and old. She took us to the oldest, most decrepit boat at the wharf. It was supposed to be 45-50 minutes to the island and after 60 people crammed onto this unenclosed, unairconditioned boat, 40 people on 3 long benches and the rest scattered in the front, back and 3rd level. It was a sweaty ride. We arrived and were unloaded in the beach and walked 75 yards to the building that housed the explanation of things to do. People separated towards their chosen event or at a unbrella/chaise lounge on the beach or around the pool. Nothing is paved except the pool cooldeck and the bathroom floor. The coral type chunky sand was everywhere, you had to wear sandals or it hurt your feet but the pieces kept getting on your feet and you had to stop and rinse ir shake out the sand. I chose the pool to sit around and the water wasn’t real clear but ok. Asked for a bottle of cold water and received it, ordered 2 cocktails that were $17 (us) each and the beer and softdrinks were free if you wanted them. The included lunch was average, did I did fine some rice noodles and shrimp that was pretty good. They had some ethnic dancing to loud music and a singalong at the end as people had drank a lot of beer. I do t know about the snorkeling as I didn’t like the equipment they were issuing. Finally the boat arrived and we washed our feet in a pan in order to keep the boat clean. I am sure there are better islands with better facilities in Fiji than this and will find them on My next trip.

We visited Beachcomber Island during the Christmas–New Year holidays in December 2025, travelling from Sydney, and it was hands-down one of the highlights of our Fiji trip. We booked the Beachcomber Island Day Trip – Fiji’s Authentic Island Experience via Viator, with transfers operated by South Sea Cruises. The entire experience was seamless from start to finish. We were picked up from our hotel around 8 am, transferred by shuttle to Port Denarau Marina, and boarded the boat around 9.30–10 am for a smooth cruise to the island. Beachcomber truly lives up to its reputation as Fiji’s party island. DJs, fire dancers, beachfront bars, and a vibrant social vibe create an energetic atmosphere, while the pristine white sand, calm turquoise waters, and laid-back island feel balance it perfectly. You can party if you want, or simply relax with a fabulous cocktail on the beach and soak in the views. A special mention to the resort manager – an absolute class act. He runs the place magnificently, making sure guests don’t have to worry about a thing and can simply enjoy their time on the island. The staff across the board were incredibly friendly, helpful, and full of positive energy. Food and cocktails were delicious, and service was consistently excellent. Transfers with South Sea Cruises were smooth and well organised, making the day completely stress-free. Thank you, Beachcomber Island, for an amazingly memorable experience. If you’re looking for a fun, social, and authentic island day in Fiji – this is it. 🌴🍹🔥

Beautiful water, great food including gluten free options and the staff were lovely. Felt the snorkelling guided tour could be longer than 15 min and there needs to be more cabana style seating, the main bar area smelt bad it was New Year’s Day so I assume the sand was a little gross in there and that might have been the smell.

Booked a day trip to Beachcomber Island for a group of seven using a local rate. The package was advertised as including water sports, and unlimited food and drinks. Once we arrived, we were told we were limited to only five drinks total per person. This restriction was never disclosed at booking and felt misleading. Food quality was very poor. Only dessert was canned fruit, and there was no local cuisine at all. Overall, the experience did not match what was advertised and was poor value for a six-hour day trip.

I enjoyed visiting this island. Pros - Very beautiful. Boat trip there & back was good - friendly, helpful staff, good boat. The snorkeling off the island was great & ok from the boat excursion. Drinks were good. Staff were lovely. Cons - Morning & afternoon tea is tea/coffee (instant) and packet biscuit. Lunch was underwhelming - very dry, tough chicken. Chewy beef dish. Dessert was tinned fruit. We had approx 40 on the boat and arrived to guests staying there - VERY limited umbrellas/shade/deck chairs. Beachcomber needs to invest in more of these. Overall, an enjoyable day, but unlikely to repeat the experience.

The trip was good but a few things were poor. Morning tea was just a biscuit from a packet and instant coffee. There was supposed to be afternoon tea but that didn't happen. If we knew this we would have brought our own supplies to appease the children. At the end of the day the return ride was 1 hour late in leaving. It would have been better if the intoxicated travellers waited till later and the families of children left on time. Most other things were great. Friendly and attentive staff and fun activities

Not sure why there are so many bad reviews. We did the Beachcomber island day trip yesterday. Me and My husband and 20 and 18 yo sons. We had one of the best days of our lives! I snorkelled for the first time. I was terrified but did it! And one of the guides was with us in the water and another spotting from the boat. The boat was safe and did not leak at all(as per some reviews). The boat thatbtransported us from the Port of Denarau may not have been the most colourful.but was solid and safe and the ride was fine even on a bit.of a windy day. The staff on Beachcomber (The Queen and company and Bill the turtle keeper and everyone for that matter) are amazing, so friendly and welcoming. We felt like we had been friends for a long time. and we couldn't wipe the smiles off our faces. We did the private turtle experience ($300fjd.for.4 adults) which was so great and we got.to.hokd.them and learn all.about them). Yes this was extra but a unique experience) Lunch was delicious and beer, wine and soft drinks included! We swam in the crystal.clear waters and the day went too quickly. Just to clarify the beach is.not rocky. It is a coral.island so not sure why people would expect the sand to be smooth. Just take some reef shoes.if concernedI will be staying here for a few nights next time we visit. Thank you so much for a wonderful day. P.s. the cocktails are delicious too! Also cheap massages are available and many other fun activities. We learnt how to make Kokoda, basket weaving, enjoyed traditional dances and music and more. The buffet lunch was delicious with stir fries, rice, calamari, chicken, bread, salads, pasta and more. Do as much or as little as you like. We thought it was fantastic value (Approx. $670AUD for 4 adults) A day we will never firget. Thanks again. We couldn't fault.our day. Bula. VINAKA!

A very underwhelming experience. Positives: Staff are lovely, the bus ride although long was handy, boat ride was comfortable enough and the staff were polite. The view was stunning. Negatives: We came on 2 boats with 37 people on each. There were about 20 sunbeds and 10 tiny umbrellas. They need to invest in cabanas or something more substantial as 6 hours in direct sun was horrible. The pool was closed and being renovated. I wouldn't have booked if I knew that as the ocean was rocky and in direct sun. The food was not good. They served the portions for you and even then still ran out of bread rolls before half of us had eaten. Drinks service wasn't great. It took 10min to get a tin of Coke because the staff were either not there or providing service to customers who were buying drinks not in the included package. The turtle viewing was so disappointing. You stood with a group of people and watched the keeper with them and talk about them. If you wanted to interact with them it was almost $300 FJD The beach activities were hyped up and truly below average. All in all I think there are better experiences to go on. Maybe it was just my experience but I paid a lot of money for a below average experience on all accounts.

I am very ambivalent about this tour. I stayed at the Shangrila Yanuca which I cannot recommend enough. I took a day trip to Beachcomber after being talked into this at the resort. First the positives The bus which picked us up was on time and the 1hr journey to Dinarau was comfortable The boat journey to the island was nice for scenery The island is really beautiful. White sand coral reefe on the shore. The staff are friendly and very helpful I loved the evening entertainment and the dance show On the other hand The boat they takes you to the island from Dinarau is a run down tired looking one My main interest was the snorkelling . This was very very disappointing g The gear they provide is dirty ill fitting and frankly dangerous. The boat that took us across to the edge of the reef was a trawler which filled up with water After a few meters in the water snorkelling I started swallowing water and found that the breathing tube had come undone. It was a terrifying experience. The food was very average I had a much better experience in Barbados’s where the staff pout on the gear for you check if it is safe and accompany you into the water. This was dangerous with no safety precautions whatsoever ever Don’t go snorkelling unless you have your own gear and are good at snorkelling At 277 FJD it is also not worth the money of indeed risking one’s life. The company on the boat and island was good. I would not do this again and wish I had chosen another trip.

This was a lovely day out, with transfers arranged from our resort. Staff were friendly and the island was great. They could have done with more and bigger umbrellas for the beach chairs. The snorkelling was excellent and well worth while.
