Amazing tour of the history of Panama. We saw old town relics from back in the 1500's. Then the tour guide brought thru time to the present with a wonderful tour. Guide was extremely knowledgeable and personable.

Great visit to Casco Viejo and Panama Viejo! Our guide, Gonzalo was filled with knowledge of the history for both locations. He was very warm and friendly. We ended the tour with a delicious and authentic Panamanian lunch at Tripecishe’s. Highly recommend this tour!

It was a waste of my vacation day and money. Very disappointed. Worst experience i had with Viator. I had to rebook with another company to have a real Panama city tour

The first thing that the guide Gonzo was punctual. He spoke clearly and with excitement in his voice throughout the tour. He appeared to be passionate about relating the history of Panamá. In sharing a few of his experiences, it added to this tour being so much more genuine, interesting and enjoyable. I will certainly recommend this tour and host without hesitation.

Our tour was provided by Beautiful Tours Panama. Our tour guide was Gonzo Horna, also the owner. Simply put, he did a fantastic job. He picked us up at the hotel on time. His vehicle was very clean and had great air-conditioning. His written and verbal skills were exceptional and he responded very promptly to any and all questions via text prior to the tour. When we first met Gonzo, his English was so excellent that you would’ve thought he had relocated here from the States. However, he’s a native born Panamanian. Once we entered the van, he reviewed the day so as to manage expectations and give us a better understanding of the two UNESCO sites that we would be seeing. He has a pleasing personality and was very open to any and all discussions, suggestions and questions. We first visited Panama Viejo (located 8 miles ENE from downtown) the original site of Panama. While there, Gonzo enthralled us with his knowledge of the history of the origin of Panama City and its fateful encounter in 1671 with the pirate Captain Henry Morgan. From there, we travelled downtown to Casco Antiguo (a.k.a., Casco Viejo), the relocated location after 1671 for Panama City. Casco Antigua was full of restored buildings (with differing architectures), churches, artisans with their shops, and restaurants. Once again, Gonzo was full of information and made the locations come alive with his descriptions, including their histories. Simply put, Gonzo has our unreserved recommendation as a tour guide for Panama. He made the day fun and we came away with a much better appreciation for the city, its history and attractions.

It was a great tour to visit Panama Viejo and Casco Viejo in a row and learn about their history in depth with a most professional tour guide Gonzo. All the places visited were very beautiful and charming. Gonzo, who speaks excellent English, introduced enthusiastically the history and stories of the two heritage sites. It was such a pleasure to stroll along the sites in a relaxing and enjoyable pace.

This was a great tour, Gonzo was very knowledgeable about all the areas we went to and was very funny. I had been to Casco Viejo previously but it was so much better getting the history and stories of the places I’d seen. Panama Viejo was very interesting, the exhibits easy to understand and well curated and Gonzo was able to answer all my questions. Very enjoyable morning out.

If you take this tour and you are a group of two-four ask for Alex Marriott. He is a local, born and raised in Panama City and loves his country. He speaks English and Spanish. Panama Viejo was the first city and has many of the ruins still standing. I was amazed at how large the old city was. There is a church tower to climb and see the surrounding areas. Alex is full of historical knowledge of the ruins. There is a museum that is very good and air conditioned. Because we were two people and didn't have anything else planned, Alex took us to see Balboa( American area during canal construction and until 1999) and Allsbrook area and mall. Ate lunch at a local place in the mall. These two sites aren't normally on the tour. We bought him lunch. Then he took us to Casco Viejo. Took us to the church with the Gold Alter. Casco Viejo looks like the French Quarter in New Orleans. The French had a huge influence in this area. We went in the Canal museum which is absolutely amazing. (You will want to go back). We saw indigenous people dancing, making crafts you could buy and selling other items. There are plenty of chances to buy indigenous crafts. Saw the French Embassy. The US Embassy is north of Allbrook area but we didn't go there. Alex loves his city and will show you as little or as much as you want. Be sure to tip well. Thank you for this experience, Alex.
