Middle Clear Creek is one of the greatest beginner rafting runs in the nation. With numerous rapids and historical significance, it is hard to deny the value. Although Clear Creek holds more rapids than most any other run in the US, the rapids of our Middle section are straight-forward and perfect for families with children or anyone else looking for something a bit easier. Rafters will also catch glimpses of Colorado's rich gold mining history and maybe even a miner or two as they splash down this unique stretch of whitewater.

Although the river itself is not wheelchair access, in most cases we can make special arrangements for our guests' needs.
What To Expect
We ask that guest arrive at our location 30 minutes before the scheduled trip time to allow for check-in. After checking in, guests will meet their guides who will begin preparing them for the journey to come. Guests will receive the necessary equipment and receive a lesson in basic river safety. Next, they will load onto the shuttle vehicle and begin the short ride to the creekside put-in. After cruising through several miles of family-friendly whitewater, guests will reach the take out where our shuttle will be waiting to bring them back to the outpost (but not before the ceremonial group high five). Guests will return to our outpost where they will have the opportunity to purchase photos of their excursion, shop for a souvenir, or get recommendation from their guide for other local activities and restaurants.

5.00The most amazing experience! We booked Downstream because they allowed the youngest age requirements and wanted to include our whole group. Our group leader Ike was so personable, welcoming and helpful! We had a larger group and he made it so easy! The whole experience was flawless I’m so thankful we found them. It was about 40 min drive from where we were staying in Denver but it was so simple. The rafting itself felt so safe, and full of adventure! Our guide Will Smith was perfect and well versed. You could tell our guides and this establishment is so well run! We got a history lesson on the Beginner route which just added to the experience. Even on the bus ride back to the depot they made a lunch recommendation in downtown Idaho Springs which we did and it topped the best day off! So happy we did it!

5.00I went with my wife and 10 year old son and had great fun. The staff was friendly and professional and our guide, Ike, was great and made us feel comfortable during the entire trip. Recommended and we are ready to return to complete a more advanced rafting trip.

5.00This has been a dream of mine to raft down Clear Creek. Downstream Adventures made this possible! Ike took us down the stream with precision and accuracy. He educated us on how the trip would go, what to be aware of but most importantly, HE MADE IT FUN! I would definitely recommend Downstream Adventures and I would ask for Ike for my next trip!

5.00We had such a great experience white water rafting with Downstream Adventures in Idaho Springs, Colorado! We chose the beginner tour, and as two couples from New York in our late 50s to mid-60s — definitely more “city slickers” than athletes — this was the perfect Colorado adventure for us. We were lucky enough to have Anthony as our guide, and he was absolutely fantastic. He was knowledgeable, patient, calm, and clearly put safety above everything else. Before we even got on the raft, the guides gave a very thorough safety demonstration, which ended up being so important. During the last few minutes of the tour, we hit a rock on a Class III rapid. The raft did not flip, but my husband fell out. Anthony reacted immediately and grabbed him so quickly, and with the help of me and our friends, we were able to pull him back into the raft exactly the way the guides had taught us. It was scary for a moment, but Anthony’s quick response and professionalism made all the difference. The whole experience was exciting, memorable, and very well run. We also purchased the photo package for $60, and it was absolutely worth it — we received all the downloads and the pictures were great. We even bought T-shirts to remember the adventure! One tip: the water is very cold, so I would definitely recommend getting the wetsuit and wearing a rash guard or warm layer underneath to help stay comfortable. Thank you to Downstream Adventures and especially Anthony for giving us such a fun, safe, and unforgettable Colorado experie

5.00It was a fantastic experience. Russell was our guide and he showed us a good time and also gave us history of the surrounding area which was interesting. The staff was really nice and the equipment was clean. Would highly recommend. Pictured is Bane, one of the on site dogs!
