Senior is free of charge, but you have to show passport with your date of birth on the spot and explain to them yourself.

What To Expect
Summer Palace (Yiheyuan)
Situated in the northwest of Beijing City, Summer Palace is the largest and most well-preserved royal garden in China, it famous for its natural views and cultural interests, the palace has long been recognized as 'The Museum of Royal Gardens'. Summer Palace composed by the Longevity Hill and Kunming Lake, it has over 3,000 ancient structures, including pavilions, towers, bridges, corridors, etc.

It’s a good idea to book your tickets in advance, particularly in peak season. Choose your preferred date and time slot for the visit and your tickets will be sent to your email. When you arrive at the Summer Palace you’ll be able to enter without delay.

5.00I did not expect to have a personal driver for the day, and a former tour guide at that! Li Qingshan was excellent, bringing me to the Summer Palace, and offering to go to the Great Wall. I didn't have time for that but when we came back into Beijing we made a brief stop at the Bird's Nest and Olympic park, and then did a tea ceremony too! He really impressed me with his historical knowledge and was very excited to share his city with me.
If you get the chance to do this tour, definitely ask for Miko—you won’t regret it!

2.00I couldn't redeem the tickets on the viator app. It said the provider will email them. The provide sent them on the day when we were already out and I had no access to wifi. So I had to buy new tickets.

We were picked up directly from our hotel in a comfortable, air-conditioned car and dropped back off afterward, which made everything so convenient. Our guide, Lucy, was outstanding—knowledgeable, friendly, and spoke excellent English. We really enjoyed chatting with her throughout the day. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone.
