The best guided tour for Pisa; the guide was knowledgeable and humorous and at the same time so helpful so as solve problems for the people. We had booked a tour via Viator for the PISA (without tower tickets). The guide was there spot on 10 min before the tour started. She did forget her flag which would have helped us recoznise her earlier. But it wasn't a big issue. She handed out the audio devices with headphones. The audio device we return to her at the end of the tour and headphone is handed back to us a souvenir. The WC use is included in the ticket but for only one time use. For other visits to WC, one has to pay extra. As of this review its 1 Euro and to be paid by credit or debit card only. No cash. Even the WC is worth a visit. The tour by itself was very good. We were able to hear the singing echo effect of the singing in the Bapistry. We also saw where Maj. DEANE KELLER Pittore, who saved the Frescos in the wall of the cemetery during WW2. Statue of Fabonaci the great Italian mathematecian is present. The frescos are themselves give a profound explanantion on the cycle of life provided you have a good guide to explain it to you, which thankfully I must say, we had. The cathedral is awesome. This is my second visit to PISA and the cathedral and interiors thereof, are can really be seen twice or more number of times. They are really beautiful. The tour ended with the group booked for the PISA tower climb going there way. For the cathedral all over Italy its important to note that for men and women the shoulder and knees are to be covered. It is important to avoid shorts and armless / sleeveless tops and shirts and T-shirts. All cathedrals have an area where daily mass is held (and also baptism is held) and they are active and well functioning religious centres. Persons not following dress code are not permitted inside and usually they hold up the line for entry- and invariably in my experience of what I saw, its the age group of less than 30 yrs. When the officials inform them of the dress code, they show blank surprise looks as though to say "why is this such a big deal". That's why the delay in most situations. The shops and vendors sell scarves and stoles to drape over the shoulder and waist, as a last minute solution. The other reason for delay in entry to various places is not adhering to the time slots by people who have arrived late to the venue and request themselves to be accommodated. Since the system of entry is digital and barcoded, its impossible for the person manning the gate of entry to make those adjustments. They have to scan to let you in and if you miss your time slot then your bar code cannot be scanned and you will end up holding up the line. To explain this a little better, we had bought our tickets to climb the tower in Pisa 1 day before, from the website of the office of the Pisa complex. The tickets for the same time slot if more than 1 in number have to be bought one by one. I did not understand this and I bought one ticket for 1300 hrs and another for 1400hrs. We then went to the Pisa tower ticket booth/room and had both the tickets merged both tickets to 1400 hrs time slot and we climbed the tower. All bags have to be stowed in the locker room. A camera, cellphone, a water bottle and cap are allowed while climbing the leaning tower of Pisa. Make sure you take your tickets to the locker room as the locker can only be operated by the bar code / QR code in the ticket. All tourist related activities are digital in Italy, from buying bus tickets to booking railway tickets to boarding them to rooms in hotels. What India has done for finance using digital technology, Italy has done the same for tourism.

Fabulous! Very knowledgeable and kind guide. Carolina was prompt arriving and spoke lovely English. She stayed with us right until the ascent up the Tower, a perfectly timed reservation. The tour included all the entry tickets to the monuments and museums on Opera dei Cattadrale campus, even ones that the tour didn’t cover. Good recommendation for lunch at Il Cangaru.
