Please be aware the Cathedral of Pisa is an “operating” church, and it can be closed to visitors for any liturgical reason, even without warning (for the funeral of a Cardinal, for example).

Children under the age of 9 are not allowed to climb the leaning tower for safety reasons, but they can enjoy other parts of the tour.

My husband and I really enjoyed the tour, it was very nice that it worked out to be just the two of us with the guide. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, friendly, well organised and the tour was well paced. We would have liked to spend a little more time in the Cathedral and the Cemetary however we appreciated the guide pointing out all the fascinating details that she could, and sharing the highlights. It was a great experience and we learned a lot. We followed it up with lunch in a small restaurant and a visit to the Museo dell'Opera del Duomo.

Pleasantly surprised with this tour. We planned this day trip from Florence to get pictures in front of the tower, but we had a blast on this small group tour (it ended up being just our family). Our tour guide Chiara has lived in Pisa her whole life and it truly showed in her deep knowledge of the city’s history. We loved seeing the church which was one of the more beautiful (which is saying a lot in Italy) along with the baptistery and the cemetery was one of the highlights including the story about the Monument’s Men from WW2 who helped with the restoration work. I would highly recommend.
