Saigon Notre Dame Cathedral
Saigon Notre Dame Cathedral, built in the late 1880s by French colonists, is one of the few remaining strongholds of Catholicism in the largely Buddhist Vietnam. Located in Paris Square, the name Notre Dame was given after the installation of the statue ‘Peaceful Notre Dame’ in 1959. In 1962, the Vatican conferred the Cathedral status as a basilica and gave it the official name of Saigon Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica. Measuring almost 60 metres in height, the cathedral’s distinctive neo-Romanesque features include the all-red brick façade (which were imported from Marseille), stained glass windows, two bell towers containing six bronze bells that still ring to this day, and a peaceful garden setting in the middle of downtown Ho Chi Minh City District 1.
Central Post Office
The Central Post Office in Ho Chi Minh is a beautifully preserved remnant of French colonial times and perhaps the grandest post office in all of Southeast Asia. Located next door to Notre Dame Cathedral, the two cultural sites can be visited together and offers visitors a chance to imagine life in Vietnam during the times of the Indochinese Empire. The building was designed by Alfred Foulhoux and features arched windows and wooden shutters, just as it would have in its heyday in the late 19th Century.

Qui was our guide, he is young, enthusiastic, very proud of his country, he is very knowledgeable and is very happy to engage with his customers. We were met at the cruise port of Phu my with Qui holding aloft a sign with my name(very easily found). Qui took us to his local neighbourhood and walked us around to let us experience the way locals live. This was fantastic, we then proceeded to do the usual tourist sites. We were treated to lunch at a Michelin graded noodle bar for local beef noodle soup. Again our mouths were dancing with all the flavours and quality of the food. We were left back at the cruise port with plenty of time to spare. If you are thinking of booking this trip, I would suggest requesting Qui as your guide. I would highly recommend this day trip into HoChi Minh city.

We had a great guide (Leon Nguyen) who was very informative and knowledgeable. Our driver was very good too. The itinerary was modified slightly to ensure we got back to the ship. I would recommend that anyone taking the trip should start as early as they can.

We had a fantastic tour with Casey. She was not only knowledgeable about history but also friendly. She took us to many places that we would not have gone if we had not booked a tour. Thanks to her, we had opportunities to look at the skyscraper, which is considered the highest building in Vietnam. We also tried a Vietnamese local food called Broken rice at a restaurant with a historical and vintage vibe. I would recommend this tour to anyone who has not visited Ho Chi Minh city yet.

Harry, our tour guide made us fall in love with the Vietnamese spirit and culture. From the moment we met him with his friendly greeting and gentle demeanour, we knew we were in great hands. We visited the iconic post office, the book street, the war museum and the Independence Palace. He also took us to a Pho restaurant. We had a fabulous time in the hands of our safe driver and Harry, our tour guide. We will highly recommend this tour!

This was our first trip to Vietnam. Our guide, Anna was knowledgeable about the history, and culture. She was willing to answer our many questions. We had a delicious lunch and tried Ginger coffee! Tung, our driver, moved us promptly to sites safely. We feel we experienced the real Ho Chi Minh City!

So much to see in Saigon. Lawrence was very informative and took us to places that many tourists would not get to see Highlights being the Military Museum and Chinese markets Son the driver deserves a medal for incredible manoeuvring amongst the traffic
