Aron was a wonderful tour guide. He adapted the tour to what we had already seen and took us to places we had yet to still see. The morning started off with a little light rain and Aron was prepared with umbrellas for all of us. He did everything at our pace, whether we wanted to stay a little longer or continue on. He had done this many times and his knowledge and experience along the way explaining the history and meaning of the temple and the statues made this a unique and exclusive experience. Thank you. I will recommend you to my friends and family when they come to Bali.

We were happy to have met Merta, our incredible guide for the day. On top of providing guidance and information at each stop along the way, he also pointed out everything we passed by, providing insights and some history. Over the course of a full day (pickup at 8AM, returning to the hotel at 5:30PM), we had plenty of opportunity to ask all our questions. The day started with a brief visit to a small area where you can see all the different types of plants used for coffees, teas, spices, and fruits. You can sample the teas and coffees for free and try your hand at milling. There is no obligation to buy anything, but if you do, note that prices seemed a bit higher than what you might find in town. This stop only happened because we made it to Ubud before the monkey forest opened for the day. We then made our way over to the monkey forest where we saw plenty of monkeys. It’s important not to show your teeth to the monkeys to avoid accidental aggressive behavior—something our children (ages 9 and 6) were comically afraid of committing. We saw others lose items (like an umbrella) to the curious monkeys. Merta accompanied us in the monkey forest, explaining their behavior and taking photos for us. After the monkeys, we also had an unplanned stop of just walking around Ubud, doing a little shopping, and soaking in the environment. Afterwards, we headed to the rice fields, which are quite beautiful. You have the option of zip lining or bicycling across the chasm but those are extra—only the entrance fee to the area is included. Though there are swings here, these aren’t the swings included on the tour. Merta also noted that the area is in the middle of construction of some day clubs, which risks ruining the peacefulness of the area. From there, we went elsewhere to try out the swing, which felt a little more intense than the swings we just saw. These swings are for individuals only and women can wear a long, flowing dress for free. They offered our kids to try it out too but both were too afraid when they saw mom do it. This stop is also where we had lunch. Since we pre-purchased lunch, we could choose from a set menu and they have a few options for kids meals. There is a pool here so you could swim while waiting for your food. Our next stop was a choice of a quiet temple or a busy temple. We opted for a quiet temple. Everyone gets a cloth to cover their legs if the knees are exposed. On top of that, women cannot enter the temple if they are menstruating. While here, we could purify ourselves in the holy water and feed the fish. Our kids decided they wanted to feed the fish, so Merta purchased the food on our behalf. Our last stop was the Tegenungan Waterfall, a gorgeous area for relaxation. That said there are day clubs here sprouting up and we could see how it takes a little bit of the serenity away. Merta only accompanied us to the staircase down and left us on our own to explore. You can do some swimming here but with the currents as strong as they are, you’re limited to just a small area to swim. Wearing water shoes helps as there lots of puddles and rocks (albeit smooth rocks). Overall, we fully enjoyed this excursion and felt it was every bit worth the time and money. This was one of the highlights of our vacation.

Gus Kumara was the absolute best tour guide. He was very knowledgeable and he taught us a lot about Balinese culture. We enjoyed speaking with him about family, religion, politics and values. He answered so many of our random question and speaking with him was the highlight of the tour. All of the locations were also beautiful and it gave us a deeper understanding of Bali as a whole. This was the best experience of our trip so far.

Yesterday, we made a tour with our excellent guide and driver Surya to a few points of interest such as temples impressing watetalls and a woodcraft atelier. Surya is very competent speaks good english comprehensive knowledge of its people, country and culture. My opinion is if you van drive safely in Bali you can drive everywhere - Surya is one of them😊. We spent approximately 8 hours with him. He was friendly, courteous, and helpful. In summary, it was a great day filled with impressions and information, and a fantastic guide. Many Thanks, Surya. Best regards Hartmut
