Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary

This unique and sacred place is a must see place in Ubud. There are many wild life inside the thick forest. Walk along the path under the shade and see many birds, lizards, butterflies and monkeys among the trees. It is a perfect set for the real wild life. There are 3 sacred temples to balance this area. Local people usually come to pray on a special ceremony day.

If you’re visiting Bali and looking for a driver and guide, stop searching and book your trip with Desna. He was hands down the highlight of our entire trip, and that’s saying something given how incredible Bali already is. We had Desna for three full days covering some of the most packed and varied days of our itinerary, from the famous swings in Bali to the pre-dawn Mount Batur sunrise jeep trek, the Tirta Empul Water Temple, and all the way to Nusa Dua. Three very different days, all perfectly executed and Desna made every single one feel effortless. What sets Desna apart isn’t just his driving or punctuality (though both were flawless) but it’s his genuine desire to make your trip extraordinary. He’s the kind of guide who actually listens to what you want and then quietly goes about making it better than you imagined. The best example of this: we had planned to visit Alas Harum for the famous Bali Swing, which is beautiful but comes at a steep tourist price. Desna suggested we try Happy Swing Bali instead which has equally gorgeous views, equally stunning swings, and literally half the price. That one recommendation alone saved us a significant amount of money, and the experience was just as magical. That’s the kind of insider knowledge you simply cannot Google. It only comes from someone who genuinely cares about the people they’re guiding, not just collecting a fare. Throughout the three days, his recommendations were consistently excellent from the best timing to visit each attraction to avoid the crowds, which entrance points to use at Tegenungan Waterfall and Uluwatu Temple, the most scenic route to the waterfalls on the way to Nusa Dua. He knew intuitively when we needed to slow down and when to keep things moving. After the early 2:30 AM wake-up for Mount Batur, he was patient and cheerful while we were bleary-eyed. Desna is warm, friendly, and genuinely wonderful company. He never made us feel rushed, answered every question we had about Balinese culture and local life with real enthusiasm, and navigated Bali’s traffic with calm confidence. Traveling as a group of three, we always felt completely safe and well looked after. We are already planning our next visit to Bali, and booking Desna again is not a question but it’s the first thing on the list. If you want a guide who treats your trip as if it were his own, who will save you money, show you the best of the island, and make you laugh along the way, Desna is your person. Thank you, Desna, you made our Bali trip truly unforgettable.

Had a truly excellent day with Ma-de, including visits to the Tegenungan Waterfall, Monkey Forest, Tirta Empul Temple, Rice terraces and a coffee plantation. A packed day but Ma-de was the perfect chauffeur and guide and provided knowledgeable conversation whilst travelling between locations. At the locations themselves, he always provided a lot of insight into what we were seeing and helped out with the best photography spots. Overall an exceptional day with a very friendly and informative guide. Thank you so much Ma-de.

We had a fantastic day with Ma-de. The communication the day before was great and the pick up was nice and easy. Ma-de was happy to accommodate me sitting in the front of the vehicle and was happy to talk to me and answer my many questions about stops in the tour as well as the life and culture in Bali. His English was very good! The itinerary was perfect as well as flexible. Ma-de always dropped us off at the entrance and then went to park the car. There was no queuing and he was a very knowledgeable tour guide! I wanted to try a bunch of local fruit and he helped me buy these and have someone cut them up for me so I could eat them. He was also great at taking pictures throughout the day, even suggesting locations and provided chilled water all day. I had an amazing day full of so many sights and really want to thank Ma-de for being the best guide 😊

We had an amazing day in Ubud thanks to our driver, Romo! He was extremely safe and careful on the roads, which made us feel comfortable the entire time. He took us everywhere we wanted to see and was very flexible with our schedule. His English was great, so communication was easy, and he also shared helpful local insights along the way. Romo was friendly, professional, and made our trip stress-free from start to finish. Highly recommend him if you’re looking for a reliable driver in Ubud!

Participating in the purification ritual at Tirta Empul truly touched my heart. This experience was deeply meaningful, and Yande was an exceptional guide. He explained the ceremony with care, prayed with me before we started, and guided me through each step of the ritual. His kindness and presence made the whole experience feel very special. He also made sure to capture beautiful photos along the way. I left feeling grateful and peaceful. While visiting Besakih Temple, Yande shared many interesting cultural facts, it was a day well spent!

It is a very good experience for those who have few days in Ubud. In one day, at an appropriate pace, we were able to see the essential points. Not to mention our guide, Lewer, who explained everything very well, and that was a must have of this experience. Through it we can better understand the culture. 1000% recommend.
