Though the capital of Provence and France’s 2nd-largest city, Marseille proudly grooves to its own Mediterranean beat – a mash-up of big-city grit and small-town sociability mixed with seagull squawks and scooter engines. Bookended by limestone fjords and garrigue hills, this working-class metropolis is profoundly shaped by its seaside location and its deep ties to the rest of the Mediterranean. The port has welcomed waves of goods, immigrants, and ideas since 600 B.C. Briny, boisterous, gritty and gorgeous, Marseille is a cultural crossroads in constant flux. The latest evolution was sparked in 2013, when the city reigned as Europe’s Capital of Culture. Now, France’s least-known city is finally on the map. Let us be your guide with this food tour in Marseille.

Coco was a wonderful guide who kept a diverse group engaged. Loved experiencing local, off the beaten path tastes and cultures. Could have spent a little more time in the spice store.

This was hands down one of the best tours we have done. Coco was a fantastic guide, her knowledge of Marseille and passion for the city was wonderful and the food we got to eat was amazing - a huge variety from all different cultures of the city. Would highly recommend!

My mom and I had a great time with our guide Coco (I hope that spelling is okay) exploring the shops and streets and learning about the history of Marseille. The food was great (there was a lot!) and we got some ideas for the rest of our trip.

My wife and I have been on 8 or 9 food tours and agree that Coco was one of the best guides we've ever had. Her knowledge of history and local food is unrivaled, and she's lovely company too. No question we will recommend her to friends who are visiting the city.

This was an interesting tour of the less usual food in Marseille. After a stop at a French patisserie, we visited markets, bakeries and restaurants featuring Armenian and Magreb foods, and fresh-caught fish for lunch at a cute little restaurant. Our guide Severine was very personable and knowledgeable. The only suggestion to add is to be careful not to eat too much at the earliest stops - you just need to leave room for the amount of eating that is to come! Highly recommend this tour.

The tour leads through hidden alleys of Maseille. Under the very knowledgeable guidance of Coco, who has known the city for 20 years, we discovered small, specialized shops and bars. So if you want to learn a little more, have 5 hours, you can find practically nothing better! Many thanks to Coco and our great group.

This walk was the best day of our visit to Marseille. Coco was a wonderfully knowledgeable guide not only to its food but to the city's history. She was a most delightful person to walk with. Thank you!

Coco, our guide, took us to many different places to taste foods that reflect multi-cultural Marseille. Along the way she explained history of immigration. A delightful tour. I highly recommend this tour.
