We had no access to a rental car (too expensive and all sold out), which makes seeing the island hard! This trip allowed us to see so much of the island in one day and we didn’t have to drive and the tour guide was a local and gave great insight and history of the island. A must do!! Highly recommend!

We had such a great day on this around-the-island tour with Kevin. It was the perfect mix of big highlights and fun stops, with the volcano, a beautiful black sand beach, and several waterfall spots. Everything was well paced, so we got to really enjoy each place without feeling rushed. Kevin made the whole experience even better. He shared the island’s history in a way that was easy to follow and genuinely interesting, and he connected it to what we were seeing right then. He also sprinkled in funny personal stories that fit the moment and kept us laughing. The drive time flew by because he made it feel like part of the tour, not just getting from place to place. He also took amazing care of us all day. Kevin kept us well fed with a packed lunch, plenty of water, and a steady supply of snacks, and the snacks he offered were honestly delicious. It was such a thoughtful touch and made the whole day even more comfortable. If you want a tour that covers the must-see spots and still feels personal and relaxed, book with Kevin. Highly recommend.

Great experience. First impression, the van was extremely comfortable and clean. The host welcomed us warmly. Jason was a fantastic guide. Knowledgeable, patient and engaging. His stories added a personal touch to the experience. And there was some heavy rain and some fog on the way back, however it was comforting to know Jason was a professional and very focused on safety. It's a long day, but it didn't fee like it. Frequent stops and interesting conversation made the day feel like it flew by. I would highly recommend this to anyone planning to tour the island.

Wonderful tour! I was a solo traveler and can see how this tour took stress off planning. Fun to meet people and good way to get an overview.

This is very long as a tour and in the winter, the last few hours are in the dark. They do take care to do bathroom breaks and provide lunch and snacks. Perhaps somethings on the tour could be modified when weather and timing make them superfluous. The rainbow falls, for example, only have rainbows in the morning so otherwise it’s a small waterfall. Perhaps in the winter it becomes a 10 hour tour? Also maybe stop at the statuary on the south end instead of the coffee place?

I very much appreciated having a way to tour/see the island without driving myself. I wish the guide would have guided us more. Jason was nice and the commentary he gave was educational. I don't know that it was great to tell in detail how Captain Cook was killed, dismembered and parts spread around and etc. I did not need that visual in my mind and we had young kids in the van who I hoped were not listening. A highlight was the coffee farm where he showed us how coffee was grown/roasted. He would describe what we would see next as we drove. I wish he would leave the van to actually show us Kilauea, black sand beach, waterfalls, lava tube, etc. Instead, he would drop us off in the parking lot and direct us to the path and to meet back at the van in 15/20 minutes. I wish the guide would actually go with us to point out what was interesting/special about each site. From the reviews, people really enjoyed this tour with other guides, so I will be more careful in reading the reviews in the future and see if I could directly request a guide. He was fine, but I feel like it could have been a better experience.

We had an amazing day touring all around the island of Hawaii. We enjoyed a coffee plantation, lunch in the Volcanoes National Park and of course seeing the Kīlauea volcano up close. Walking thru the lava tubes was incredible! We traveled to Hilo for more amazing waterfalls and ocean views. Our guide, Kona Chris, was very entertaining and full of island history and facts! An all day excursion.

Chris with Wasabi Tours was very knowledge regarding the history of the Hawaiian culture and its history. Interesting stories to go along with each site. We enjoyed the volcano park and the waterfall stops. Great all around adventure to see the Big Island!

We had an amazing time with Kevin! His love for history and his storytelling skills made our adventure so much fun! We were disappointed with mother nature because the volcano was covered in vog, but Kevin saw the sun come out and took us back to the volcano. It was amazing the difference of how much we could see and we were grateful that he knew to and was willing to take us back. My family said this was their favorite tour of all of the ones we did.

We booked a private tour through Wasabi Tours and spent the day with our guide, Henry — and it was easily the most memorable experience of our trip. From the moment he picked us up in a comfortable Mercedes SUV, we knew we were in great hands. Henry is native to Hawaii and has an incredible depth of knowledge — he shared the history of the islands, current-day insights, microclimates, culture, and everyday life in a way that felt authentic and engaging. We visited the volcano crater (and even enjoyed lunch there), explored a fascinating lava tube, and traveled across dramatically different landscapes while learning about ranching, farming, and how coffee shaped the islands. We stopped at a beautiful black sand beach where we saw sea turtles resting, and later viewed stunning waterfalls — including one that was over 200 feet tall. Every stop felt curated, meaningful, and perfectly paced. What really made the experience special was Henry himself. He was professional, warm, thoughtful, and clearly passionate about sharing his home with others. We asked countless questions and he answered every one with insight and enthusiasm. The day felt seamless from start to finish — including airport pickup and drop-off, which was incredibly convenient since we were staying on Oahu and touring the Big Island. This tour was magical for both of us — informative, fun, and unforgettable. If you are considering a guided tour, I cannot recommend Wasabi Tours enough — and definitely request Henry if you can. He truly made the day exceptional. We would book this experience again in a heartbeat.
