Bahia Bioluminiscente
This excursion is located on the island of Vieques, Puerto Rico. In order to participate in our tour, an overnight stay on Vieques is required. Vieques is a separate island off of the main island of Puerto Rico. You will need to take a plane or ferry from the main island of Puerto Rico to reach Vieques, and you will need to arrange separate ground transportation because you will not be able to bring a rental car on the ferry with you. Because we only offer tours at night so that our clients can experience the glow of the bay, even if you take our earliest tour, you will not be back to our meeting point with enough time to get on a ferry or a plane back to the main island on the same day. Our guides will meet you in Esperanza directly across from Rainbow Realty (278 Calle Flamboyan). Roundtrip from the meeting point, the excursion is 2 hours, time on the bay about 1.5 hours, weather permitting. We provide transportation from the meeting point to the Bio Bay entrance and back.

This was a strange tour. You aren’t actually booking with a tour company. It seems they just stick you with whatever tour company has room? It’s dark out and there is limited instructions on what’s happening. The bioluminescence is really neat, but not really any info was given at all. I would book with an actually tour company next time. There are several down close to the water.

Magical! Leonardo was a great guide. Perfect! We all kayaked to one spot and talked a bit, experienced the magic of the bioluminescence. Leonardo provided some cool information. Then we were able to explore on our own before kayaking back.

Spent about 45-60 minutes on the water. The bioluminescence was very visible. Would recommend. Everything went smoothly

We live the journey into rare, protected waters to witness millions of microscopic organisms that they emit an ethereal blue-light, like a galaxy movie.

We were taken to the entry point in an old bus; the entry point was extremely muddy, and we had to paddle through a thick layer of algae. The bioluminescence is white and only appears turquoise in photographs taken with an iPhone, like in the internet photos.

We really enjoyed the bio bay kayak tour. We did have a full moon, so the guide brought a tarp to put over us so we could see the water under darkness. It was really amazing to learn about what makes the bay glow! The van ride was about 10 mins on a rough dirt road. We were given paddles and life jackets then led to our kayaks. You must be barefoot and walk through some deep smelly mud. The bay is only 5ft deep and about 1/2 mile wide. We kayaked to two different spots. Saw fish. About an hour on the water, went by quick. Our kayaks were not clear but it didn’t bother me, still a very cool experience.

A little trouble finding the meeting spot, but otherwise everything went smooth. Our guide was fantastic and was very informative. We enjoyed our tour and will definitely visit again.

Great bonding experience with family. Went with my wife and two kids 17, 12. Went into bay and kayaked we were given tarp over our boats and saw lights as soon as we touched the water. We were all amazed. My kids said that it was the best part of the trip. A must do activity in Vieques.

The experience was great. There was no sign when we first met the guide so it was a little confusing as there were multiple guides leaving from that point and the van had certainly seen better days but the guide was very knowledgeable. If you can plan for a less full moon it definitely makes the bioluminescence easier to see but they had tarps ready to block moonlight if needed.

Knowledgeable & friendly guides, easy to paddle, beautiful lagoon & bioluminescence, backyard mango was provided at the end. Be prepared for an exciting van ride from the guides & to take your shoes off for the muddy entrance to the lagoon (hose provided for feet at the end).
