I had little free time beyond most of one day while in Asuncion, but had to take advantage of my first time in South America and go birding. Esteban’s half-day trip (from pickup at 5:30 tonight around 1 PM) was perfect for me. The property where we went is part working ranch and part nature preserve, and I felt like a kid in a candy store seeing so many new, interesting birds. My knowledge of South American birds is far behind that of other places where I’ve been, and Esteban was very helpful in pointing out all of the birds we came across, helping with identification, and explaining their habits (and the names in Guarani for some). He’s also a very pleasant guy to talk to, and we saw a nice variety of species on the trip. I would definitely recommend this shorter tour for people with limited time, or a longer one if you’re able to.

This tour takes you into the Paraguay countryside and allows you to see what life is like outside the city. You drive for about 40 minutes and end up on a working ranch where there are a wide variety of birds for your viewing pleasure. It is quite serene out there and you will have a great time relaxing and enjoying nature. Our tour guide was fantastic and the snack they provided was some drinks and empanadas which hit the spot. Great experience overall.

We have seen many birds and gained an impression of the Chaco. The many potholes on the trails show how much work goes into creating and preserving the wagons.

Our guide was fantastic. We booked the half day tour and got back after dark after seeing dozens of new birds out on the Chaca. This day was the highlight day of my day in Paraguay. We stopped the car and got out and walked along a dirt road and saw tons of new birds. We had a picnic by the side of the road at dusk, watching a big stork. It was magical. Highly recommended great value for money.

Esteban was engaging, fun, and informative. Even though our weather wasn't good, we had a good time and learned a lot. We got what we wanted from the tour, even if the price is a bit high

We had an incredible experience on the half-day trip with Esteban, who was extremely friendly and eager to answer all of our questions about the wildlife, culture, and history of the region. We were looking for an opportunity to see a different side of Paraguay away from Asuncion, and this trip surpassed all of our expectations. Coordinating the trip was extremely easy, as Alberto reached out directly to assist with pick-up times and location. The journey included a relaxing boat ride up the river with drinks and snacks which were much appreciated. Both Esteban and Alberto were incredibly knowledgeable about the wildlife, and had keen eyes for pointing out every different species of bird during our journey up the river. We saw a huge variety of birds including parakeets, caracaras, kingfishers, and burrowing owls. We even had the opportunity to see howler monkeys, which was an unexpected surprise. I would definitely recommend this experience to anyone looking to see some of the countryside and wildlife outside Asuncion, and will likely bring friends and family on one of their trips again.

Alberto & Steven were my guides and they both did an excellent job! They were on time and I felt very comfortable with them at all times (something that is always important but especially as a solo female traveler). Their knowledge of Paraguayan nature and wildlife is immense and very impressive. They were also very professional and communicative before and during the activity. Hotel pickup and dropoff was also seamless and the food they provided was also nice! We spotted over 45 species of birds today in our visit to an estancia that is a way to get a taste of more rural life in Paraguay, just about an hour or so from Asunción. Some of the birds we spotted required binoculars that they lent me borrow and were in great condition, while others were able to see up close without magnification. I don't have a professional camera so I just used my phone camera and I think even some of those photos were quite good considering, but I know that if you are looking to do photography this is a great location as well because you will surely have good visibility. I could not have asked for a better experience with this short visit into the Chaco region and when I am back in Fargo, I am only going to book activities of this nature with wildlife Paraguay because they are true professionals providing excellence at a reasonable price.

Beautiful birds seen but it was not worth the money, paid too much for that. Long journey time: 2x 1.5h. Just sat in the car, thought we'd walk too. The food consisted of 2 kinds of rolls of stuffed dough, not really a meal. Waste of my money
