Once we reach the Black Forest, located just 1hr from Heidelberg, we will drive along the 'Black Forest High Road' - voted one of the 10 most scenic roads in Europe. Then we can choose to visit a fine collection of Waterfalls, the charming Mummelsee Lake and some classic local villages.
For wine lovers we can sample some wine at a friendly local winery.

5.00Our host Henry Cottam was the perfect fit for us. A beautiful drive through the Black Forest region, including a hike into the forest along a brook to a splendid waterfall. We then shared a delicious lunch with a scenic view. And finally, we traveled, at our request, to explore the region near Karlsruhe from which our family emigrated to the USA. Due to Henry’s patience and persistence, we actually met some cousins who still live in the little town of our family origins. A fantastic day, thanks to our friendly, knowledgeable host, Henry Well done!

5.00This was a great and amazing trip. Henry picked us up on time at our hotel, and drove us to the Black Forest region. The tour was truly spectacular. Henry provided us with really good information as to the region, history of the places we visited, stopped for photo opportunities and took us to great places for hiking and food. Henry is a great guide, very knowledgeable and I will work with him again for future trips.

5.00Excellent full-day tour of the Black Forest in November 2023. Henry is a fine gentleman and a wonderful tour guide. His tour of the Black Forest was expertly arranged. We drove and hiked through a variety of locations - forests, streams, lakes, waterfalls, villages - all with beautiful views. Henry is quite knowledgeable about this part of the world and was a great companion. Highly recommend this tour!

5.00We really enjoyed our day! Henry was fantastic! Did a little hike, got some pretty pictures in the forest. Some wine tasting, a great lunch, and saw a few of the small villages in the Black Forest area! Also got some good advice from Henry for spending our evening in Heidelberg! Only recommendation- spend more than a day in the area!

5.00If you want to see the best of the Black Forest with the best tour guide, then you should book this tour! Henry is extremely knowledgeable of the area. The views are spectacular! First, we stopped and hiked in the cool, peaceful Black Forest to a waterfall. Then we went to a large lake and saw cuckoo clocks made from trees of the Black Forest and hiked to the highest point of the Forest over-looking the Rhine Valley. After the hike, we had a delicious lunch and dessert (traditional sspatzle, maultaschen and Black Forest cake- lunch not included in tour price).

5.00We thought Henry was great. Starting off with a walking tour in Heidelberg, we got to know the city very well. And had ample time to see the castle and walked the grounds at our leisure. He was very knowledgeable of all things seen that day, including the Black Forest. He took us a good time to avoid crowds and made sure we had time to do the things we wanted to (Black Forest cake, wineries). We were comfortable enough with him where we could call him friend. Highly recommend. He loves Elvis.

5.00My sister, dad and I did the Black Forest tour with Henry. Hands down the best day of our whole trip!! Henry was very knowledgeable about the forest, areas, and everything in between! He was able to answer every question we threw at him!! He didn’t care that my sister and I stopped to take photos of everything!! We hiked to the top of a mountain where we could see France in the distance!! Henry took us to lunch, let us shop, went to a vineyard (yummyyy!), and got to see the beautiful little town of Baden-Baden. He even dropped us off at the train station and went inside with us to help us get the correct tickets (we didn’t know German well at all lol)!! I would do this tour every week if I could!! 10000/10 recommend!!!
Unforgettable Personal Tour in the Black Forest

5.00My husband and I were traveling to the Black Forest area for the first time and didn't know where to start or what all to see. I contacted Henry and he created an itinerary for us based on my very basic input. The day was well structured with some beautiful hiking through the forest in the morning, a traditional local lunch, more sweeping mountaintop hiking, and a stop at a local black forest village and winery for a tasting. Henry is a history aficionado and knew so many facts about the area and where we had stayed beforehand (Baden-Baden), and was an incredibly thoughtful guide and host for the day. We've been on several day tours on other vacations, but this was by far the best and served as a very memorable experience for our first time in Germany. I cannot recommend Henry's services enough!
