Cao Dai Temple
Cao Dai Temple (also called Tay Ninh Holy See) was built in 1933 and officially inaugurated in 1955. It is a special religious work of Caodaism (Cao Dai religion), located in Hoa Thanh District, about 4km from Tay Ninh City. In the early 1920s, Caodaism was established in Southern Vietnam but had not been officially codified until 1926. It is the 3rd largest religion in Vietnam borrowing elements of Buddhism, Christianity, Taoism, Confucianism, and Islam. It is currently estimated that there are nearly 3 million followers nationwide, living in 38 provinces and cities, mainly concentrated in South Vietnam.
Cu Chi Tunnels
The tunnels of Củ Chi (Vietnamese: Địa đạo Củ Chi) are an immense network of connecting tunnels located in the Củ Chi District of Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Vietnam, and are part of a much larger network of tunnels that underlie much of the country. The Củ Chi tunnels were the location of several military campaigns during the Vietnam War, and were the Viet Cong's base of operations for the Tết Offensive in 1968.

Black Virgin Mountain was amazing! The place was beautiful and comfortable. You can tell there was a lot of effort in building it right. Unfortunately, the private tour did not meet our expectations. The vehicle, although a Mercedes, was uncomfortable in many ways. The air conditioner was not working properly; it couldn’t keep us cool in the back, and the vent air smelled dirty. Our tour guide was tall, so we were cramped in the back seat. To make matters worse, the seats were uncomfortable as well. Our guide made us feel rushed, but he got us around so we didn’t miss anything. The drive back from the Mountain was extremely long, taking four hours to return to HCMC. Not anyone’s fault but maybe they could have suggest a better time to leave. We had to listen to the driver singing under his breath for most of the journey. As we neared our hotel, I felt suffocated and wanted to jump out of the car. I tried to roll down the window for fresh air, but it was locked, so I couldn’t.

NOTE: temple and mountain are more than 3 hours one way drive. Total tour length is 12+ hours NOT 8 as stated. Driver drove slow, got passed by buses, significantly below the speed limit. Also, jerky - gas, then no gas. Car was clean but very uncomfortable driving style. Driver did not open car door for us, which all other drivers we had were gracious and always opened the door and were otherwise courteous. This driver was NOT gracious or courteous. Guide did good job explaining Cu Chi tunnels and answered questions but was silent during the long car ride, providing no information on local life, buildings, architecture, religion, people, nothing - the drive was a waste of time. She slept during much of the car ride (see pictures). Given poor driver and lack of information provided, we cut the tour short and went back to our hotel after the tunnels. Wished we would have booked half day, using speed boat. We did not expect a refund for cutting the tour short and none was offered by the tour operator. We did many private tours (~10) in SE Asia with drivers and guides. This pair was the worst by far!

It was great! It began with contact from my tour guide Xuyen contacting me days before the trip to her dropping me off at my hotel. She was very friendly, very professional and had a wealth of knowledge about every attraction that we visited including history of Vietnam. Xuyen made me feel like I was part of the Vietnamese culture and was very instrumental in helping me to learn some of the basics about Vietnamese culture and some basic phrases that helped me to interact with many of the Vietnamese people. She also gave me the opportunity to enjoy and explore each tour site without rushing me. This was truly the most enjoyable tourist experience that I’ve had in many years. Thank you Xuyen and Viator for this amazing experience and having such a top notch tour guide .
