Blenheim Palace
This awe-inspiring stately home, the current private residence of the 11th Duke and Duchess of Marlborough, is perhaps best-known as the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill. Admire the stunning details behind the portraits, tapestry and furniture in the lavishly decorated State Rooms, which includes ornate furniture by Boulle, Savonniere carpet and the iconic 'Victories' series of tapestries celebrating the Duke's victory over the French armies of 'The Sun King', Louis XIV, at the Battle of Blenheim. Enjoy a stroll through the beautifully landscaped formal gardens designed by Lancelot 'Capability' Brown and more than 2,000 acres of parkland, or walk in the footsteps of Sir Winston Churchill. Visit his most cherished outdoor places on the grounds of Blenheim Palace, including the spot where he proposed to Clementine Hozier.

Blenheim Palace was beautiful My only complaint was that it closed earlier than we expected so we were not able to do the Churchill or Below the Stairs tour. This was not the fault of the tour guide, as he was unaware of the time change. The Cotswall town we visited was very nice. If you go make sure to check out the Tiny Village replica.

I did the tour to Blenheim Palace and enjoyed it immensely. Definitely a tour not to be missed The tour was actually better than I had imagined. James was great host and Michaelangelo a fantastic driver.

Blenheim Palace was fascinating, but I really wish it had been an all-day tour. There’s just never enough time, which seems to be the story with most tours. lol Bourton-on-the-Water was such a charming little village. A few nice spots to eat, a fantastic estate jewelry shop. Too bad they love our money but don’t seem to love the congestion that comes with it. Bampton, the “Downton Abbey village,” was the one disappointment of the trip. It was neat to see the outdoor filming locations, but in real life they’re not nearly as romantic. Still, kind of fun to check it off the list. The bus itself was really comfortable, the countryside was gorgeous, and the guide’s commentary was excellent. Honestly, I just wish it had been a two-day tour.
