Sydney Zoo – Sydney’s newest zoo is located on our way to the Blue Mountains. This is a great opportunity to meet Australian wildlife such as Kangaroo, Koala, Dingo, Wombat, Tasmanian Devil, Echidna and more. You can also meet African and Asian animals! (Cheetah, lion, Red Panda, Elephant, Sumatran Tiger and more).
The best place to view the wilderness of the Blue Mountains (away from the large buses – big Coaches DO NOT have access at Kings Tableland)

2.00The Blue Mountain Tour got off to a very disappointing start. The booking confirmation was not followed up with an email or sms of the time of pick up, vehicle number and the company who had been engaged to pick us up. I went to the Ibis Hotel Darling Harbour at 630am as the pick up time was indicated as 645am at the Ibis Hotel Darling Harbour. I thought I had been scammed as the vehicle only arrived at 750am which means that I waited I hour and 20 minutes for the vehicle at the hotel. I had almost given up. What a disappointing start to the tour.

5.00Bruce had a good sense of humour and good time management. This meant he shepherded a full bus of 28 passengers through a full itinerary with aplomb. Bruce’s spiel was thoughtful with just enough information to be interesting and not too much to be boring. What he didn’t know he looked up instantly eg the aboriginal name for the Blue Mountains and what it meant. While I could have done without the zoo stop, the scenic world stop was a breathtaking introduction to the sights, eg the three sisters. The best part was the three lookout points and the short walks. It would be very good if Oz Trails could do full day guided hikes on level 2 or 3 routes. The return journey was a little cheeky as the river cruise back into town was in fact a public ferry. However, the genial banter of Bruce, his generous tips and recommendations for where to stand in the cable car, eat at Circular Quay, and deliberately not mentioning tips being appreciated, all suggested sincerity. All in all a good day out.

5.00We had a wonderful trip to the Blue Mountains, despite the shocking weather, all thanks to our brilliant driver and guide Les. His knowledge of the area and its history was amazing, as a local, he could read the changes in the weather pattern and move us around the area to get the very best out of our experience. His knowledge of the local flora and fauna added to the day and his sense of humour and patience made adverse conditions not only bearable but enjoyable. We learnt a lot, had a great time, and saw much more than we expected. Thanks Les a wonderful day well spent.
