Borobudur Temple

For your information Limiting the number of visitors allowed to climb the Borobudur temple to 1,200 per day Indonesia’s 4th largest island, Borobudur is the world’s largest Buddhist temple, constructed in the 9th century, and is the most visited tourist attraction in Indonesia. When the population converted to Islam in the 14th century, Borobudur was abandoned. Today the temple is protected by UNESCO with ongoing restoration and maintenance to keep the temple looking it’s best. enjoying the serene and spiritual atmosphere that seems to have infiltrated every rock via. As you look out to the hills and forests surrounding you it isn’t hard to imagine how explorers must have felt when they stumbled out of the forest in 1814 to find such a sight lost to the world for almost 500 years.

    With the driver, Dani, a 10 for him. He picked us up on time and gave us a lot of information about the culture and history of Indonesia; he has a lot of knowledge and always helped us. Thanks to him we enjoyed the tour. Our rating is not so high due to the unclear information provided by TripAdvisor EYE WITH WHAT IT INCLUDES AND NO! Services included and not included: as it says includes, English speaking tour guide, this guide is ONLY for Borobudur temple, in the other temples you have to PAY SEPARATELY, which is NOT specified in the section of services not included. Nor does it specify that I cannot enter the Candi Mendut temple for renovations...

    Both temples were incredible. The early morning climb up Borobudur was worth it even with overcast skies. The sense of peace and sound of the breeze and birds. — only about 20 people up there with you. You can take such nice pictures without all the people around. Our Borobudur guide, Alvin, had so much information for the group. He really, really added to the whole experience. My Viator driver, Matt, was super organized and right on time. He was very patient with all my questions. As always, I’m impressed with other cultures’ command of the English language. I sadly only know English. Again, such friendly, kind people — truly enjoyable experience.

    We had a great day visiting Borobudur and Prambanan temples. Our guide was Dani, who is very nice and provide a lot of information regarding the places, the history and Indonesia in general. He took care of us and adapted to our requirements, so we highly recommend him. He arrived also very punctual at the hotel. Thank you for a great day, Dani! For the agency: this in an expensive tour as the entrance fees for the temples are more expensive (even excessive) for foreigners. So if it is not possible to visit Candi Mendut due to renovation works, it would be nice to advise in advance as we’re paying for this stop and temple as well but your price is the same. Not nice, we just accepted it as it’s not Dani’s fault, but didn’t like this gesture.

    My family and I have had a great day out at Borobudur and Prambunan temples with a fantastic driver and guide. Maxi made our trip very special as he has excellent English skills and good historical knowledge of these amazing sites. He is a very safe driver and was most considerate of my five year old grandson’s enjoyment of the excursion. I can highly recommend Maxi for any age group of travellers.

    Great time at borobudur and prambanan temple. I was bit confused for ticketing and preparing transportation by myself that's why I joined tour package. They provided me transport, ticketing, tour guide, good restaurant and also souvenir shop I wanted to buy something special in indonesia. Specially the driver his name is Mr. Seta, was perfect to me. He prepared everything for me. And also He expanded many things for history, culture and religion of Indonesia . It was really helpful to know them. He also showed me very beautiful palaces to take picture. I really appreciate it. I was just like a model with amazing scenery. I really thank to the tour company specially Mr. Seta. The only thing you should be careful is the burning sun with high temperature.
