Braulio took us to a smaller farm for a very hands-on personal tour. The walk was easy and informative. Great alternative to the "beach vibe" where we are staying. Then we drove to the waterfall. There is hiking involved and lots of stairs. I am a senior with bad knees - I managed but it was a little challenging. Pretty place and we watched some young men climb the rocks and dive off. Braulio is funny, talkative and knowledgeable. Good experience.

I enjoyed the guided walk through the native family’s garden and the explanation of all the herbs and plants and how they are used for medicinal reasons. It was also nice to grind the chocolate beans together and make a tasty chocolate paste that we spread on a BBQ’d banana. Unfortunately, due to heavy rainfall, we couldn’t complete the waterfall hike and swim. I was disappointed that even when requested, only a refund of $2 for the waterfall entry was offered, even though we were dropped off back at our hostel after just over 3 hours and this was meant to be a half day tour. The organiser should handle adverse weather better by communicating that the waterfall section cannot be completed (not his fault) and providing an appropriate refund, not keeping all the money anyway! It was also not what I expected as the native family does not have an ancient history of cultivating cocoa like in Mexico, but rather a relatively modern one that was introduced to them by international companies. I’m afraid I wouldn’t recommend this to a friend, sorry!

Much more than we expected. Brualio was knowledgeable, friendly and professional about local history, chocolate processing from making the bowl we would use later to step bt step through the process to chocolate banana treats and beverages. The plants insects and frogs he located for us enhanced our hike to the waterfall.

Braulio was an excellent guide! The Bribri people, especially the children, loved his visit. We learned so much about the plants and their medicinal purposes, along with participating in making chocolate and an extra special treat!

Braulio was the perfect guide taking us to see the indigenous BriBri tribe. We learned about the different floral and trees, made chocolate, and visted a beautiful waterfall. Definitely worth it.

Amazing experience for our family. Braulio was very kind and knowledgeable about all things Costa Rica Caribe. We didn’t just learn about chocolate - there was so much more. We couldn’t have asked for a better way to learn about and experience the Bribri culture. We are very grateful to Janet and her family for sharing their farm and home with us. We will never forget it! Pura Vida!

Fun mix of activities. We learned a lot about cocoa, medicinal plants, and the chocolate making process, as well as the indigenous Bribri culture. Getting to cool off by swimming in the waterfall was a nice bonus.
