Had a great time with Zach and crew on Browns Canyon. Was accessible for a family with younger children, but exciting enough for adults! Scenery was beautiful and serene. Highly recommend, and will look to do again in the future. Thanks for a great day on the water! (Side note, food and hangout spot by the river after tour was great too, pork belly ban mi was delicious!)

This was an excellent experience from the minute we walked through the door. It was our first time on a River Runners tour. The process was organized, the staff gave an extensive explanation of how things work and the facility was beautiful. Our guide Eryn was awesome - humorous and patient with some sick skills on the water. I would consider the rapids more on the beginner side than intermediate. There was a lot of slow floating through the canyon, enjoying the stunning views. I would have liked a bit more of the exciting stuff but we still had a great time.

Directions via apple maps were spot on and we got there quite easily from Breckenridge (about 1hr 10m). We did the 10am tour so the parking lot wasn't busy when we arrived. Check in and gearing up in a splash jacket, helmet, and life jacket was easy. Our guide was Layton, who was awesome. He was friendly and conversational, but didn't monopolize our time together as a family either; he knew when to just let us look around and take in the scenery and when to provide interesting facts about the river or recommendations for restaurants. Our kids (8 and 10) had a great time, Layton was engaged with them as well and was easy going but made sure they were safe. We loved our tour.

Views were amazing. Class 3-4 rapids always felt safe as the staff worked well together. 9 boats total in our group. What an amazing experience. Glad we went end of July but definitely can wait to come back in early June sometime when flow is at Peak!

I flew from Iowa to visit my 2 brothers who live in the Denver area and as part of my trip, we booked the Happy Hour intermediate whitewater rafting trip. The date of the excursion was 07/17/25 and we were told to meet at the River Runners Browns Canyon outpost at 2:15 pm for a 3:00 pm trip. There, we were fitted for our gear and took a bus ride to Buena Vista River Park. One of the guides, Christian, gave us a quick safety briefing and we were told that there would be nothing to worry about since the part of the Arkansas River that we'd be traveling on would be class II and III rapids. This was a relief to me since it would be my first time whitewater rafting. Our guide was Layton and we walked down to the river after the safety briefing and got into the boat. The only people in our boat were my 2 brothers, me, plus the guide and there were 2 other groups that had signed up for the excursion. Since we were the first to enter the water, our guide had us practice paddling with our oars since we had to wait for the other 2 boats to get into the water. I was expecting us to sit idle and follow the other 2 groups downstream, however Layton said, "you guys are good" and pulled our boat into the middle of the river where there was a rock which created a recirculating vortex-like zone. Immediately, the boat tipped upwards and I fell into the water and I couldn't believe what was happening. Nothing can prepare you for the shock of how cold the water is and the strength of the current was taking me downstream. I am not familiar at all with the Arkansas River and even though I can swim, I was in shock and unable to swim to safety. I was yelling for someone to help me since I didn't know how deep the water was, if I was in danger of crashing into any rocks, and the scary reality of drowning definitely was on my mind. At some point, I decided to lie on my back and went into a face up position and eventually, I was able to get myself off to the side of the river and walk away. No one came to my rescue and when I got off the river, Christian was there to meet me. I took off my life vest and was very upset and ready to call it a day. We walked to the top of the stairs where I regained my composure and Christian asked that I get into one of the other boats. I was planning on just taking the bus back, but that didn't seem to be an option, so I reluctantly got into one of the other 2 boats and we started downstream. Shortly after, I got into the boat that I was originally in and joined my 2 brothers and Layton. I learned that both brothers almost fell into the river, but were seated toward the front and were able to keep one of their feet in a foot cup which helped keep them in the boat. Also, they were seated across from each other and were able to pull on each other's life vests so that they wouldn't fall in the river. Layton said they were held up on that rock for a good 30 seconds before it eventually spit them out. He said that some people go "surfing" on that vortex and one of my brothers thought that I had gone under the raft and was dead. To me, this negligent act by our guide led to me falling in the water. Even though I got back in the boat and finished the trip, I did so mostly because of the embarrassment of what happened to me and I wanted to try and enjoy the moment with my 2 brothers. Also, River Runners did nothing to come to my rescue once I was overboard, so that is also highly concerning for anyone thinking to hire their company for their whitewater rafting experience. If I were you, I'd go with someone else who actually takes the safety and welfare of their clients seriously.

They created a great day on the river. Did a 1/2 day trip with buddies that were in town and River Runners did everything well. They took the safety brief seriously but made it entertaining. Adam, our guide, was dialed in on the rapids and gave some great history of the area. Definiely will use them again
