I cannot recommend this experience enough. A wonderful day on Bruny Island guided by the very knowledgeable and funny Dan. Everywhere we visited we were greeted by friendly local people who were proud of their product and rightly so.

Today I participated on a Tour at Bruny island showing some food production as cheese & beer, honey, chocolates etc with tasting. We had on a beautiful location lunch with fresh Oysters and fish of the day. In between we had walks at the beach, in a private garden and in the rainforest. Dan was a very friendly and cultivated Guide and he explained us a lot about the history of Tasmania. Moreover the sun was shining and we had a wonderful and calm day!

Amazing day. Brilliant tour guide. Saw and learnt so much. Stood on the beach where Capt Cook landed his ship! Great value for money.

Full day that packed a lot in. Food tastings and lunch were all top notch and the variety of walks was an added bonus. It wasn’t all sitting on a bus. Dave was knowledgeable and excited about his job.

We did a fantastic day tour to Bruny Island with Pennicott Wilderness Journeys, and it exceeded all expectations. Our driver and guide, Rayan, was excellent—Tasmanian born and bred, relatively new to the role but incredibly knowledgeable about the island’s history and local highlights. He was polite, engaging, and had a great sense of humour, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. The tour itself was wonderfully curated, with stops for cheese, beer, honey, and chocolate tastings—each one a treat. Lunch at Pennicott’s beachside restaurant overlooking Adventure Bay was a standout: freshly shucked oysters and the fish of the day were exceptionally fresh, paired with stunning coastal views. A must-visit on Bruny Island is the Bruny Island Chocolate Company—definitely worth indulging! However, the true highlight of the day was a rare and special experience: a private garden tour of Hiba. The name “Hiba,” meaning “a beautiful gift,” perfectly captures the serene and magical atmosphere of this remarkable place. Hiba is a 25-hectare private oceanfront estate and garden created by its owners, Michael Carnes and Bob Lavis. What began around 30 years ago as an empty paddock with little more than blackberry rows has been transformed—over decades—into an extraordinary landscape. It’s still evolving, but already a stunning reflection of their vision and dedication. This garden is not open to the general public, so we felt incredibly fortunate to visit as part of the Pennicott tour. We even had the chance to meet one of the owners, Michael, who was working in the garden and kindly shared insights into the project. All in all, a memorable and highly recommended experience—perfectly blending food, scenery, and a unique glimpse into one of Bruny Island’s hidden gems.

Tastings along with a complimentary gift from each venue. Super lunch with two beverages enjoyed. Informative guides with a little humour along the way. Small walks to burn off until the next tasting. Great drive-thru oyster run for the way home.
