What To Expect

Please make sure you are at the right meeting point. We meet at Batthyanyi ter metro exit. Our fully licensed local ( born and bred Budapester) tour guide will meet you at the metro exit in the park and will introduce the itinerary of Budapest Castle District tour, one of the most historically significant landmarks in the city. Buda Castle District is made up of the Royal Palace, Matthias Church, Fisherman's Bastion, Maria Magdalena Church Tower and other important buildings, urban public art mini monuments, look out terraces and an underground cave system.
Matthias Church
Learn about the 800 years of history of the area that was the scene of several wars and occupations with the in-depth commentary of your guide. Learn about the German, Jewish and Hungarian populations everyday life in the district. We do not enter the church.

5.00The guide Andre was informative , friendly and helpful. We did the initial sets of stairs but he broke it up with a flat walk and then more steps . He told us lots of interesting stories and historical facts that made the district come alive over the centuries . I was actually very impressed with the amount of knowledge he has. He is an official tour guide and pointed out interesting facts about other places we could also pop in and see (like inside the Hilton ) and also showed us a was to get the same view as if u were on a funicular but without paint for the funicular. Also we got to see the changing of the guards at 12 o clock . All in all an excellent tour with a good pace and great info and than you for sharing your knowledge on restaurants and wine and food . I enjoyed chatting with you as we walked . Please bring cash for payment at the end .

5.00Andreas gave a wonderful tour through the Buda district, blending history details, humor and some personal favorite places. There were spots that he showed us that I did not read about in a travel book and would have missed (ie., the nuclear bunker used as a hospital). Andreas clearly knows the history of his country and is passionate about sharing it with us.

5.00Sofia was a wonderful guide. Very knowledgeable and answered many questions from all historical times. We were very impressed with her knowledge on the history of Budapest. There is an incline in the beginning of the tour, with many steps, but once on the hill it is relatively flat. We covered the entire Castle Hill area. We left with a good understanding on the history of Buda and many interesting facts. A very good experience. I would highly recommend.

4.00It was good but an opportunity to enter castle or churches would’ve made it more interesting. Not suitable for elderly due to the number of uphill steps. My mum is a fairly fit 83 year old but she found it difficult walking up to the castle as it’s uphill and lots of steps.
Great to understand how it all came to be.

5.00Bolash aka goulash was a great tour guide, he really knew his stuff and for our first day it was great to get a tour covering the most important part of the city. Our guide didn’t rush us, he spent time explaining in detail how the history had shaped the county and the city, his explanations were informative, comical and held our attention throughout. It was a great hour and a half nearly two hours, and 100% I would recommend it just to help fill in all the gaps around how the city/country has been ravaged/pillaged/conquered and succeeded against vast odds.
