There is much to love about Budapest beyond the cafés, spas and the ruin bars. It is encouraged that all travelers to Budapest devote plenty of time to exploring life in the maze of inner city streets, the elegant late-19th/early-20th century villas on the grand boulevards, the bridges connecting Buda and Pest, and the beautiful Danube promenade which cuts through the center of town. This 4-hour guided walking tour of the city shows you the best of Budapest.

Walking is the best way to explore Budapest, and the only way to truly discover the details hidden among the city’s streets. This 4-hour grand walking tour, led by an experienced local guide, visits a mix of many of the city’s major sights and lesser-known ones which should not be missed. Focusing on the history of the city and the country, this tour covers a large area of the city, squeezing in many places of interest. In this neighborhood you will see some stunning buildings (many of which have seen better days) including the Hungarian National Radio Building (which was an important site during the 1956 Revolution) and the National Museum.

This was our second tour of the day with our guide Aniko. She continued with her insightful and engaging discussion of Hungary's history. We learned much that we did not know about Hungary's past and present. We cannot say enough about Aniko who made both tours very pleasant. While the tour was four hours and we did a lot of walking, it did not seem that long. We highly recommend this tour.

WOW! What a EXCELLENT and informative tour that Aniko gave us today. While touring many of the major sites in Pest she gave appropriately a Hungarian history lesson from 800 AD to the present. Her knowledge of the history including the official history vs what others believe may have been additional facts and suspicious was phenomenal. She knows specific dates for virtually anything we asked her. We started with an EXCELLENT Hungarian sparkling wine and 2/3 of the way through we stopped and had delicious dessert and lemonade (we're not coffee drinkers). This well worth the expense for my wife & I on this private tour with Aniko. We did this on our 1st day in Hungary after arriving from the US after 14 hour red-eye plane rides. Thus was a great way to be sure we stayed awake to not be tempted to take a nap to help us adjust to the 6-hour time difference. And we got a great overview of Budapest the city as well as the ~1300 year history of the country. She adjusts the tour to your liking and since we both love history she far exceeded our expectations. She's a very approachable Hungarian who grew up in Budapest and still lives here. Her English was excellent and we suspect her French is, too. We would strongly encourage to do this tour with her whatever your interests are and we believe she'll surpass your expectations, too.

The grand walk is a very accurate title for this tour! Be prepared with good walking shoes and plenty of fuel in your tank! Angela was our guide and was wonderfully informative and lovely. Thank you for the great tour!

Barbara was our guide and she was just perfect. First she found out what we would like to see and what we could tolerate on such a hot day. Then she took us at a reasonable pace through the city, stopping at various spots with wonderful insights. Barbara clearly loves her country and her city and we really appreciated the time she spent with us. We would certainly book again with Taste Hungary on our next visit and, hopefully, spend more time with the wonderful wines of Hungary.

My tour guide was Endre - charming, cheerful, punctual, well-travelled and with ridiculously good English. The private tours are customisable - we customised mine so much that the four hour tour took nearly six fascinating and enjoyable hours. We also “customised” coffee and cake into Villányi Franc! You’ll cover a lot of ground on this tour but it’s not physically demanding thanks to clever tactical use of public transport. Endre was particularly good at highlighting the subtle details and history that one would otherwise miss - particularly how the different epochs are represented in the architecture (often even within the same building).

This was the best experience we had during our visit to Budapest! Our guide Angela was knowledgeable and professional, and during our 4+ walking tour we visited many of the districts of this beautiful city. This is a must do when you visit!!!!!

Such a knowledgable guide and genuinely interested in our tour goals. We learnt so much about Budapest’s history and the impact on its society and culture. I couldn’t recommend this highly enough. So pleased we didn’t choose a cheaper alternative (we saw so many 30+ headcount tours; how can that work?)

This tour kicked off at the 'Tasting Table', right where our 'Culinary' tour ended - a brilliant segue from one tour to the next - and both so very different. On our Budapest Grand Walk, our tour guide, Ana, was simply the BEST! Her general knowledge and overall passion for her hometown was infectious. We loved hearing so much of Hungary's history as we weaved our way all over 'Pest'. We now absolutely love Budapest, thanks to Ana, and look forward to returning again one day. THANK YOU!

Guide was well informed and very helpful. He gave us an insight into the local politics and everyday life in Budapest as well as the history. We went on the underground which was very interesting and well run. The tour was good value.
