  • Good if you lived in a soviet state

There isn't an audio guide and there are very few signs/explanations in either Hungarian or English. If you lived in a soviet state you'll probably recognize a lot of stuff and enjoy this museum. If not, you probably won't get much out of it. But the short "sports" video of a "gymnastic" event is very entertaining.

Interesting museum that gives some insight of life in Budapest from the 50’s to the fall of the Iron Curtain in the early 90’s through various artefacts and recreation scenes. Try the dial-a-joke in the phone boxes for some period humour. The diner in the foyer looks fun.

Very fun and interactive museum. I would recommend visiting to anyone that enjoys the retro esthetic or wants to see some interesting things from everyday life from before a couple of decades.

A really entertaining peak into Budapest's recent past with lots to look at and interactive displays, most of which had English options. There were also some nice mocked up scenes including a living room, kitchen, news desk and police car that you could pose in for photographs. Everything was new and worked well. Expect to spend 1.5 to 2 hours there to see everything.

Small and fine museum. Especially interesting for those who have experienced the "old days" themselves. How quickly time flies and how quickly technology has evolved...

Really interesting to watch what used to be so “normal”. I was there with my father, who suddenly reminisced a bit when he saw all the old and carefully tended products. He was also quite taken with the museum and would recommend it to anyone interested in retro history. The Service in the restaurant/bar was very pleasant and friendly the open and pleasant nature of the staff has moved us to allow a bit of tipping there.
