What To Expect

St. Stephen's Basilica (Szent Istvan Bazilika)

You will visit the church, go to the lookout terrace around the dome, and have the possibility to visit the treasury and history exhibition.

Extra Public Tour in English

Guided Tour: This option includes a guided tour inside the church, and a ticket to the panoramic terrace and treasury.
Duration: 1 hour 10 minutes: The guided tour takes about 45 minutes. Exploring the dome terrace and treasury can take about 30 minutes more.
Church, dome terrace, treasury: The guided tour is only inside the church.
Extra ticket: After the guided tour your guide will give you tickets to the dome terrace and treasury, and you can visit these on your own.

Private Tour in English

Booking for bigger groups: If your group has more than 10 people, please book the tour for a smaller group, and contact us for an agreement on the rest.
Guided Tour: Live guiding inside the church, on the panoramic dome terrace and in the treasury.
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
Church, dome terrace, treasury: There are elevators to the dome and tresaury. However there are also some steps, about 20 to the dome and 50 to the treasury.
Maximum group size: No maximum group size for a private tour. For larger groups (>10 people) we will offer you 2 guides.

Limited mobility: You will agree to skip the dome terrace and tower treasury, eg. if you cannot climb steep stairs to the top of the Basilica.

This is a wonderful skip the line private tour. It was 5 of us and the guide was amazing. Make sure to do this tour if you visit Budapest.

A light tour in beautiful church with a lot of history in it. The guid is so friendly , Gold plated interior It has a huge organ. I liked the panorama look out at top of it . Don’t worry there are lefts

We had an amazing tour of the basilica today with Petra. She was an amazing tour guide and gave us so much information not only about the cathedral, but also about the history of Hungary. She was clear, and concise. She was like a family member. What a great tour guide.

Some stairs involved, however, the elevator made it easier to make our way to the top and take in the breathtaking panoramic view of the city. Our tour guide was amazing; it felt like we were lifelong friends!

The tour was very interesting and informative. Our guide was Julia and she was well prepared to give details on the history of the cathedral with religious context. We had our tour on a unique day where back-to-back weddings were taking place! We understand that this meant the tour had to be adapted and Julia had to explain things outside of the cathedral instead of inside. Viewing the cathedral all around on the outside was good but ultimately we booked to view the beauty on the inside. Viewing from the outside we could do in our own time. It would have been nice to visit the tower and treasury in the meantime, so we weren’t standing around to absorb all the details. At times it felt like we were back at school with the quizzing. I don’t mind a more conversational approach but there’s a lot we don’t know about the history and are here to learn! It was great to see the lovely couple come out of the cathedral before we went in to have a look. Julia knows her stuff and we appreciate the tour she gave!
