Szent Istvan Bazilika
Visit the unique church square of St. Stephen's Basilica and admire the impressive building with its unique reliefs, mosaics and, of course, its dazzling frescoes! The third largest church in Hungary, spanning a length of 87 meters, a width of 55 meters, and a maximum height of 96 meters, is exactly the same height as the Parliament building. The enormous church honors St. Stephen I, the first king of Hungary, who established Christianity in the kingdom. And if all that is not enough, redeem your combined ticket and the treasury - accessible by elevator and stairs - can be visited by the guests arriving here, which has been expanded to three rooms, and which preserves such wonderful relics as, for example, the mummified Right hand. Then take a walk around the panoramic terrace, where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the city.

Beautiful architecture inside and out. Ticket only, from shop next to Starbucks I think. Tremendous views from the top well worth paying for. We took the stairs, but there are lifts. Definitely worth visiting.

Such a beautiful place which easily accessible from downtown hotels. It has a double dome totaling 96 feet. You can go up to the top of the dome by elevator or by steps. Don’t miss out on seeing the artifacts in the Treasury as the extra cost on the ticket price is well worth it. I would take a GUiDED tour as you will get a wealth of information about the basilica. If you get there during a mass, 10 am tours, you will still be able to tour the basilica but get the added bonus of experiencing the acoustics of the basilica through the singing and the sermon which you are welcome to join.

Booked our tickets through an app called, get your guide. Luckily we visited here fairly early in the morning (9:45/10am) so it wasnt overly busy. This place is absolutely amazing and so beautiful. If you are scared of heights and want to go on the panoramic view, do not take the steps. They are metal steps that wind around and are not "enclosed" so you can see right down to the bottom. I definitely recommend taking the lift. The views are definitely worth viewing and there are lots of photo opportunities. However, if you also have tickets for the treasury, there is no lift. You either have to climb up roughly 100 steps from the ground floor or if you are coming down from the 3rd floor you have to go down 2 flights of stairs. I have an extremely painful knee condition and had I known this in advance I wouldn't have booked this extra ticket. I only found out about the steps when the rude lady staff member started yelling at me in Hungarian to get out of the lift and use the stairs. There was another English couple in the lift also wanting to go to the treasury. I tried to explain that i wanted to go to the treasury and she just continued to shout at me pointing at the stairs. Another staff member then stated there is no lift and shook his head at me and the other Englush couple who were also ordered out of the lift! This absolutely ruined my experience, she was utterly rude.

I bought a ticket online and had to go across the street they have two lines. Short line for online and others are longer to buy your ticket. Church is so grand with gold trim and the painted ceiling. Two prices. The. The higher price gets you to the roof.
