We did the Bungle Bungle Explorer with Air Kimberley. Broome Aviation does a similar trip which I assume is just as good. Both companies have a 4 person minimum (and 5 person maximum) and we took Air Kimberley because they were definitely flying on the day we wanted. It's a long plane ride (about 2 and 3/4 hours) but over beautiful scenery. Pilot commentary was excellent. There are 3 rows of 2 (counting the pilot) so everyone gets a window seat. As a taller person I struggled with the leg room, but fortunately there was a spare seat so I could stretch sideways (my wife sat up front). The whole flight was good but especially the flyover over the Bungle Bungles At the Bungle Bungles, the 4 of us from the plane joined a day tour, going for maybe 3 hours. That included a hike through the Bungle Bungles and lunch (provided) at the beautiful Cathedral Gorge. The walk was perhaps 1 km and was pretty easy.

Everything went well. It was awesome to see the Bungle Bungles from the plane, could get good photos. It was also nice to do the walk, but would had preferred a longer one. The pilot was very attentative and skillfull.

A must see if you are in Broome. Certainly a full day. Wonderful seeing from both the sky and in amongst it in the ground. The walk is a very gentle walk. Great snacks and lunch provided, as well as cool drinking water.

It was a long flight to get there from Broome but our pilot, Lauchlan C, kept us interested with facts about the areas that we were flying over. Once there, the aerial views of the rock formations were amazing. The walking tour with guide Matt, was also informative and lunch in Cathedral Gorge was a real highlight to the day.

Bungle Bungle is a bucket list item. The walk to Cathedral Gorge was not as difficult as first indicated, the guides made sure everyone was looked after. Temp was hot 34°. There were several stops on the way; filled with history & culture information. Photos from the flight over the Bungle Bungle do not do it justice! Its magnificent and splendid appearance is overwhelming. Air Kimberley full day tour was not only value for money but the staff made it all so memorable! Roman & Rodney our tour guides in the Bungle Bungle were full of insight and considerate of everyone in the tour. But the trip was made perfect by the pilot we had - Lucy - she was incredible! Her professionalism made us feel safe & relaxed to have her as our pilot. Her immense knowledge of the area we flew over was impressive, to say the least. She truly made the many hours in the air seem like minutes. I would without any hesitation take any plane trip with her.

From the time we were picked up in the morning to the time we were dropped off at the end of the day the whole experience was amazing! We are traveling with an elderly dog and the Air Kimberley crew spoilt and looked after her all day which was such a reassuring thing for us. Our pilot Lachy was super friendly and was really knowledgeable about the whole area, plus felt very comfortable that he was a great pilot! Nervous flier here! A very spectacular fly over of the Bungle bungles and then landing before the ground crew at Bungle Bungles took us on a walking tour. This took in the domes and the breathtaking Cathedral Gorge with a pretty good lunch provided. If you’re thinking of doing a trip in the Kimberley area go with Kimberley Air!

Very professional, friendly people. Great to be able to fly at such a low altitude and see the country. Having the opportunity to do a walking tour at the bungles made the day. Thanks to the team and our pilot Hugh

What an amazing tour, from pick up to drop off. The beauty of this tour is that you get o see the Bungle Bungles from above and the ground. Our flight was smooth all the way with Tommy our pilot providing informative commentary along the way. Amazing scenery all the way there and back. The fly over the Bungle Bungles was awe inspiring. Our guide on the ground Bec (Kingfisher tours) was amazing. Her first hand experience and detailed knowledge of the area and the life of the first nations peoples ( from birth to death) was extremely interesting. So much so that some random person tried to latch on to our tour. Bec's stories were equally intriguing and humorus. The walk into Cathedral Gorge was not difficult. May was a good time to go. We were pleased to be in a small group (4 of us) as Bec was able to field our questions and show us things off the beaten track as we made our way to Cathedral Gorge. If you are nervous (as I was) of flying in a light plane all I can see is don't be. Our flight was very smooth and we were in great hands with or experienced pilot. So glad we did this. The only hiccup was that a day before the tour Kimberley Air rang to cancel and offered a tour the following day and didn't give a reason. Not wanting to miss out we hastily scrambled to rearrange another tour in order to accommodate the change. I would recommend to maybe book and allow a few days in your stay to reschedule in case this happens to you as this is a tour not to be missed. Also maybe take a light jacket or pants for the flight. I sat at the very back and didn't realise how cold it would get. Although forecast for 35 degrees that day the early morning temperatures were still quite chilly up high when we flew in even with all the vents closed. The flight back was not chilly. Maybe it was just me but just putting it out there if you are inclined o feel chilly easily.

This was a highly professional tour, well organised, and with a knowledgeable pilot, Nick, who was able to explain the terrain and what we were seeing from the plane. Not only that, when we got to the destination he acted as pack mule and carried much of the water & food that we needed for the short walk at Purnululu (Bungle Bungles). We really appreciated that the airline managed to take our small group of five at very short notice, after the other company we had originally booked with cancelled our trip at short notice. The facilities pre-and post flight were really nice too. We would highly recommend this trip. A couple of things to be aware of that I don’t recall being stated online: in the smaller Cessna 210 plane used on some trips, it is quite cramped and somebody above 5 foot 10, and/or of “fuller figure”, or with mobility challenges could find it uncomfortable for the two hours each way.
