The day was excellent - even though it was drizzly and foggy outside. Tom is a great guide, and paced us just right with food, breaks, bathroom stops, picture spots, everything. We stopped for wonderful pasteries, a beach, a boardwalk, postcard-perfect views, and took a really fun detour, too. HIGHLY recommend this tour!

Cabot Trail was breathtaking and one of Canada's national treasures. Tom our tour guide was a native of the area and very familiar with the trail. I appreciated his expert driving skills around the many turns and sharing his knowledge on all aspects of the community. He was very pleasant, calm and friendly.

We booked the Cabot Trail tour in September, when the ship tour was sold out. Any concern we had about getting back by the 5:30 pm ship deadline was dispelled, as almost all of our tour mates were from our ship! (The price was a fraction of the ship sponsored tour). Our guide , Katherine was a retired school teacher, with a wealth of knowledge of Cape Breton and kept us occupied for the entire 7 hour trip. Our driver Rick drove us far as possible, given the ship sailing deadline, to gorgeous spots on the Breton Highland shoreline! We were fortunate with the weather, as the sights were a photographers delight!

Our driver was very good about showing us the sights and talking to us during the drive on an intercom system so that everyone could hear him. He made sure to show us things at each stop so we didn’t miss anything.

  • Would skip unless foliage season

It is a long day of driving in a van with many other people. While many of the panoramic sites were beautiful to view, there was no main attraction on this tour and even though we drove for 6-7 hours, we only stopped at a convenience store for lunch, which consisted of snack foods. It seems the tour should have a better lunch place set up along the way for the travelers to enjoy a nice meal when out from 10:00 AM until 6 PM.
