The Cabot Trail Discovery Tour explores Nova Scotia’s most iconic road trip. From the rugged coastlines and majestic mountains to the charming small fishing villages, this tour provides breathtaking viewpoints, endless photo opportunities, and local culinary experiences.
We follow the coastline as we climb and descend mountains and traverse the Cape Breton Highlands National Park. Picturesque examples of typical Nova Scotian fishing villages dot the Cabot Trail’s winding roads. Hear the crash of the ocean against the craggy stone shorelines, feel the sand between your toes, and smell the salt air at the many coastal stops along the 300-kilometre journey.

The CabotTrail Tour was everything we expected, including the sunny weather complete with fabulous skies and great cloud formations. We last did the trail 25 years ago in solid fog!! So we headed out with trepidation. It was a small group being end of season, only 3 other guests apart from the two of us. For me, Scottish born of Highland stock, but a longstanding Canadian, it was wonderful to see the examples of Scottish culture and tradition. But after 25 years we noticed how the Mi'kmaq had retaken their rightful place and the Acadians had returned, with a higher profile, so you got a much more visible sense of all the major cultures. Our driver, Frank MacLeod, was very good humoured and extremely well versed in the history and geography of the Trail and Cape Breton as a whole, so we learnt something new at every turn. The Tour is very enjoyable and a bargain, a very reasonable price, and with comfortable transportation. We would not hesitate to recommend it.

We enjoyed a wonderful experience on our tour with "Father Harry," as he is affectionally called, as our driver/guide. Harry is very personable, engaging, and extremely knowledgeable, and his warm hospitality made us all quickly feel like long-time friends. The tour was nicely paced with lots of stops for photos and breathtaking views. One of the highlights of our trip was seeing a large moose on the side of the road in Cape Breton Highlands National Park.

We were touring Nova Scotia and the top of our list was the Cabot Trail. With only a day in the Baddeck and Cape Breton and the Trail being so long, we decide to tour with this group and glad that we did - worth every penny Bruce picked us up at the Baddeck visitor center. We took Bar Harbor ferry the afternoon before and spent the night in New Glasglow ... be forewarned it is a long ride from Yarmouth to Baddeck and this tour starts 9 am sharp Bruce is a local expert and super nice guy - who guided along a 180 ride with great stop along the way, with a great lunch stop. We had a warn sunny day and everything was spectacular. THANKS !!!

Did this tour yesterday, and it was such a memorable experience! Our guide, Harry, was absolutely fantastic — knowledgeable, engaging, and so easy to talk to. You can tell he genuinely loves and enjoys sharing its stories, history, and hidden gems. The entire tour was well-paced, comfortable, and beautifully planned. There was rain forecast and he took that into account, doing the West side first then East since the rain will hit the West side first. We had plenty of time to take in the breathtaking scenery, stop for photos, and enjoy the viewpoints without feeling rushed. Harry’s commentary made the long drive feel short — he had a great mix of local insights, humor, and fun facts that brought the trail to life. I also appreciated the personal touches — from the thoughtful stops to the way Harry made sure everyone was comfortable and enjoying themselves. By the end of the day, it felt less like a tour and more like a road trip with friends. If you’re visiting Cape Breton and want to see the best of the Cabot Trail without the stress of driving, I highly recommend Cabot Discovery Tours. Ask for Harry if you can — he really makes the experience special!

My first solo trip ever was so special as Harry made it just amazing. His energy throughout the journey was just marvelous. He made sure to explain each and every detail. He was livley and caring. He also kept us entertained while we had lunch at this beautiful place, he shared his photo album. I had the most beautiful time.

Our driver/guide was Frank. He made sure that we got to see as much of the Cabot Trail as possible, while at the same time making sure that we got back to our cruise ship on time. He was pleasant, personable and engaging throughout the entire tour (sometimes maybe a little too engaging....some periods of silence would have been appreciated). A very scenic drive with plenty of stops along the way.

Bruce, our driver and tour guide was excellent. He was very laid back, funny, informative and very knowledgeable. The only thing that would have made it better, would have been if the leaves had changed colour more, but , Mother Nature! Highly recommend!

We enjoyed the tour very much. Harry was a wonderful tour guide. Very knowledgeable with a great sense of humour. We especially liked visiting the little fishing villages. Great ice-cream too. We were 11 passengers which made the tour more intimate. Also we were mostly from different countries and provinces.

This is the best way to do the Cabot Trail. It was enjoyable, comfortable and great way to learn more about the area.
