Noel was absolutely fabulous the ENTIRE day! She was kind and SO smart and taught us so much about the wilderness and so many things I had no idea about! The day went so smoothly and I couldn’t have asked for a better guide.

Our guide Michael was one of the most knowledgeable and passionate we have had the pleasure to tour with anywhere in the world. He was able to bring the rainforest and its history alive with engaging commentary and demonstrations at every stage of our journey, drawing from his extensive personal education and exploration of the region. This tour was a great choice for our multigenerational family group, with only mild walking required to enjoy the sights, while the kids could challenge themselves swimming upstream to the waterfalls at the end of the day. We feel we had the opportunity to experience many different sides of the rainforest with much better understanding and organization than we could have managed on our own.

It is a really nice way to know more about this beautiful country. It combines culture with nature. A very nice bus with airco !!! Friendly driver. I read before about “no toilet oportunities” which almost made me cancel but that remark is rubish

Lena was great. All was really wonderful and her explanations of rainforest and knowledge of the nature was a big bonus. I would suggest the only thing for future for the guide: to remind the group more regularly that this bus tour is shared and people must keep quiet in the bus. We had one person who was talking 12 hours non-stop (on 12 hours tour )with the neighbour on a full capacity of the voice. What was killing the impression of the tour.

If this is your first full day in Cairns, a great way to start to see the area is partaking in the Cape Tribulation, Mossman Gorge and Daintree Rainforest Day Trip. On Saturday, November 29, 2025, we were fortunate enough to take in this day with Ron and Active Tropics Explorer. The day kicked off with a pickup at our hotel. The vehicle was a well-appointed 27 person van with comfortable seats. The first stop is at the Mossman Gorge Cultural Center (MGCC). This includes a great speech from a guide that recounts the history of the land. They have a great demonstration about the use of smoke and fire that is symbolic for visiting the land. Upon completing the demonstration, you have an opportunity to use a nice full-service rest room with running water, soap and towels. Take advantage of this before you board the shuttle bus to the hiking path. The MGCC team will whisk you up the trail to the start of the path. This is a nicely paved path that allows you to wander through some quick sites in the. Rain forest. There is a quick swimming hole, but give the length of the day and short amount of time there, I would forgo swimming and just stick to the path. The path has a great suspension bridge that was a bit of an engineering feat to assemble. You should visit the bridge to take in what they have accomplished. The time at the MGCC is quick, but it gives you a good synopsis of the rainforest and the beauty. Prior to departing the MGCC you have a chance to grab a quick snack and once again use the full-service rest room. Don’t let this opportunity pass you by. From the MGCC you will end up on the Daintree River Cruise. This is a smooth ride up the Daintree River where the guide will point out the history of the river, and you will be on the lookout for reptiles. On November 30, 2025, we were fortunate enough to have Gary as our guide. He is a connoisseur of all things related to the Daintree River. We were fortunate to have his knowledge and keen eye to point out the various creates along the river. Having completed the riverboat tour and MGCC it is now off to lunch. The tour takes you to Ocean Safari where you had previously pre-ordered your lunch. I enjoyed the chicken bowl. The restaurant has an assortment of drinks to consume and has another full service rest room for your convenience. After lunch it is back in the van for a tour through the forest. You will get to experience magnificent views and beaches along the journey. Please note, the beaches are a quick stop, you do not setup shop there for any period of time. The trails through the rainforest are paved and easy to navigate. You do not need hiking boots for any part of this adventure. Overall this is a great way to see the Daintree rainforest. It is a great warm up trip for your first day in the city of Cairns. This gives you time to adjust to the time zone and get a feel for the weather. If you do go on this trip, and you should go with the team at Active Tropics, remember it is a winding road through the forest. If you have issues with car sickness or back issues, make sure you choose a seat in the front of the van or take any necessary medications to enjoy the trip. I am thankful to Ron that managed to navigate the hours of driving and construction along the route to give us an amazing and memorable day!
