This is a wonderful opportunity to learn real stories of real people, mens and women’s stories that help us know about World War II and the people ofCarcasonne during the resistance. This is the brilliance of this tour because it gives us an opportunity to learn from the past , to understand what is happening now and how the choice to save one life can save the world.

This is a well structured, engaging and informative tour bringing local characters and events to life. The guide used photographs from the war period and local landmarks very effectively. The pace of the delivery made it enjoyable for everyone.

An interesting and informative talk enthusiastically delivered by Paul on an aspect of Carcassonne other than the mediaeval cite. The realities of living under the occupation was covered including individual local heroes, the resistance and escape of Jews and downed airmen across the Pyrenees. Can't recommend enough.

Paul was very knowledgeable and explained things very clearly whilst encouraging questions if we didn’t think we’d understood something properly. The two hours flew by and we really enjoyed it. Would recommend.

Very informative and knowledgeable especially regarding the French resistance within Carcassonne. Couple of nice drink stops too especially at Le Bristol where hopefully the tour guide will eventually get his free drink!

Paul gave insightful local anecdotes against a backdrop of the national and international stage... thought provoking and sombre at times...

Paul was a great guide and was passionate about Carcassonne during WW2. The tour was informative and fun. Lots of really interesting facts but never dull! Personally I thought the group was too big on my day considering the narrow streets in the town. Sometimes hard to hear and find a safe place to stand. For a big group there needs to be more emphasis on safety and consideration of locals. However I cannot recommend this tour enough!

A very nice and well preserved castle or fortress. You can spend the whole day here and browse through various shops, museums and shops. There are numerous restaurants with reasonable prices.

A really enjoyable tour. We did it with our 12 and 15 year old kids and they found it interesting too. It’s a great way to get another perspective on the town that isn’t about the castle. It was a good pace and the pictures helped bring it to life.
